don't get a muffler get a full cat-back.. i wish inever bougth my muffler, and used the money towards a good exhaust.. but instead i got a nice apex-1 muffler, and i had to go thought the tourble of sellign it, and saving for my 5zigen fireball. that's my best advice <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

I would go against a universal muffler. Reason being cause you will have to mount it through a local exhaust shop and they are going to charge you probably 50-100 bucks. Plus does that universal muffler meet the current pipe spec on your car? If not you could end up getting a pretty crap exhaust sound(shouldnt be going for just sound anyways). Now Some companys make axel back exhaust, which you will need to get a custom down pipe make so you are again running the same diameter. Pipe is going to cost ya though. So in the long run it is normally easier to get the cat back setup which might cost ya 1-2 hundered more but you can put it on your self and all the parts include... except bolts so dont brake your old ones.... might think about getting rid of that cat and going with a test pipe also.

If you want to email
[email protected] he has been really helpful with me since I have so many questions about what to do with my car. Not only that but he told me that he has 3 240's! Im sure he knows what he is talking about! I think he has a 5zigen fireball on one if them and a 5zigen border or a Blitz one on the next and I think he said his wife has a JIC one in hers. Not only that he has pretty good pricing for JDM goods. Here is their site address www.autoimaging.com
i'm going with universal b/c lack of $. i need an exhaust really bad, my stock is so rusted it's about to fall apart. i don't have the money for a cat back. i'm going to get the exhaust shop that did the ss system on my 71 gto to install it w/ a new cat and 2.5 piping. just wondering which one sounds better...

universal mufflers all sound like crap. If you can't afford a cat back go with OE. Then save till you have enough for a cat back.

I had an AC Revolution tunable on my old SR20DE Sentra and it really sucked. It sounded very bad, worse than a Honda. It was the worst at idle because it was just so loud and annoying. I was quite embarassed at stop lights and would often run my A/C even when not needed to bump the RPMs to a range that sounded better on the muffler. I ended up just running it with the silencer which reduces the oulet to less than stock which wasn't ideal. If you need a cheap universal, go with a reputable domestic brand until you have the cash for a cat back. I love my Apexi Dual.
