It'd be more worth it if it were 5-speed, in my opinion, but still seems a little high for a SOHC with a fucked tranny

I paid 1000 for my 90 coupe with an dohc swap 5spd. It didn't run, but I fixed it myself not knowing what I problems I could have ran in. But if a shop other than myself were to fix it, it would probably cost $3-400.
You have to see what you are getting yourself into. IE.. how much would a tranny cost, or 5spd swap cost you..and after spending that much money is it still worth that much money vs. buying an s13 that isn't "broken".

look for chassis damage, i.e, front end, my friend just picked up a s14 auto for 1800, and jsut needed front end body parts... drives perfect.

i'd get it if it's a 5spd and if you're willing to do the work. for a new tranny and clutch it's like $200-$400, so you'd be getting a pretty good deal considering everything else was working properly

it doesnt matter what we think. If you like the car, and YOU feel the price is right for the condition, buy it. Do what makes YOU happy.

Sounds like a good price to me. You can find a lot of trannies here cheap cause people dump em after SR20 swaps. I got a trannie for free from my friends shop that does swaps all the time. If it was me, I would jump on it cause I know I can fix that problem easy and it seems like a good buy. It is a dohc and 5 speed after all...

5-speed trannies are easy to come by, you're right... I bought a 89 coupe, body/interior in good shape, it was an auto, I got my tranny for free and all my parts for the swap dirt cheap...

ok guys $1000 for a running 92 hatch is a very good deal even if the transmission is fried auto or 5 speed. Do not let people tell you its not worth it if its an auto.
My daily driver 92 Super Hicas car was purchased for $1000 with a blown torque converter. I swapped it to a 5 speed after fixing the the torque converter and driving it like that for a year. Ya I drove an auto becuase it was cheap cost me $100 to fix it. Its a 5 speed now so whatever. hahahhahhaha
buy the car at 1k you can't go wrong unless its got a toasted chassis.

Good buy, just get it and replace the tranny if need be or swap the 5spd (assuming auto).
