I have a S14. The car was leaking oil. My mechanic fixed the front engine oil seal and also changed the steering oil pipe/hose because there was grease.

After I got the car back, I found that when the gear was in D or R, the car made the kind of noise when an older car makes a turn, like whining. The noise is very noticeable when the car is not moving. When the car is moving i think other noises cover the whining. I haven’t noticed any difference in driving, just the noise is annoying. The noise gets louder the longer I drive. The mechanic said the car was old so just left it like that unless things got worse.

Does anyone have any idea on how to reduce the noise, or maybe something is wrong?

Another question, the back window defogger is not working. I turned it on and didn?t feel any heat. Most of the grid lines look intact. The mechanic tested the connectors and there were currents, so he said if I want to fix it, a new back window was needed because something was embedded in the glass.

I searched a little bit but didn?t see a new window as a solution.

Power steering pump?

It is a possible, although it was fine before.

I searched a little bit and it could be bad steering fluid, belt issue, clogged filter, air in the steering system, or even the transmission.

I haven’t seen any website mentioning about the symptom my car has: the noise gets worse the longer the car is driven.
