Interested in SR20DET turbo kit?

Hi all,
Just wanted to see if anybody would be interested in seeing another moderately priced turbo kit for the for 94-96 blacktop SR20det be developed and tested to show before and after performace gains. I'm wanting to keep the gains moderate to retain streetability. This would be part of my senior design thesis to graduate. I just need to have evidence that there is a demand for this type of thing, not necessarily for production. The more interested replys and comments the better. I appreciate all your help.

A'PEXi has a reasonably priced turbo kit for the S13 blacktop SR20DET. You can you make yours CHEAP in price...then you might have some buyers.

I agree, a'pexi has a kit at a reasonable price. However,the kit that I saw offered by them doesn't include injectors, fuel management system, fuel delivery system..etc etc, also doesn't show actual gains (ie dyno sheet). Again, I'm not really trying to market this kit, I just have to show that there is interest in this type of kit as to get it okayed by my prof's. Thanks for the posts, I appreciate it.

i got an idea... talk to peopel athat run the setup and ask them actual performance numbers other than hp. horsepower means dick if you can't put it down. a lesson most supra owners have yet to learn.

very true. I agree hp is just a measure of the motor's capability, not the car's total capability. I have to quantify a performance gain in hp though, but may include other performance gains, ie 0-60 time, 1/4 mile time etc. my advisor said to focus on hp b/c it is easiest to quantify since there are less variables (track conditions, tires, driver...)

but horsepower is meaningless DUE to the variables it has to affect and that affects it if you're doing this from a real world perspective.

gauging horsepower has only slightly less variables anyhow. make three dyno runs with a modified turbo car and lemme know if they're perfect every time.

there is not a perfect standard or perfect run, it will just give you a measurement (with margins of error due to equipment and data aquisition) for that particular time, date, and environmental conditions. I know not all three will be the same run everytime. All that I want the chasis dynomometer to do is provide a rough estimate of how much power has been gained, not an exact measurement of what the car has. Thats why I will do several before and after measurements to qunatify the gains for that particular characteristic.

supras can put down nearly any amount of power... your idea of putting down power may be different than theirs tho... some people do race 60-160... supra never claimed to be king of the drags :)

running 120mph traps on the stock twins is pretty nice... and the fact that the power gets put down no problem is nice... most cars DO have traction problems when you start putting out 600rwhp+ but then again, you wont see that often on a S-chassis'd car ;)
