View Full Version : Looking for some advice...

Okay, this girl I'm sort of seeing (asking for advice there is an entirely different topic) is the market for a new car.

She always buys cheap cars on their last legs, runs them into the ground, and then gets rid of them.  The most she's ever spent a car is $800.  This time, she's thinking of getting something decent.  But not too decent - that would cost too much.  I think she's set her cap at around $2k or so.

Anyway, knowing full well that a four door with seating for five is more her style, I went 240 hunting anyway.  Ya know, so I could drive around in it.  =)  Well, I found an '89 with 193k miles on it right in her price range.  It needs a fender, seat, and a/c - but she doesn't seem to care much about those things at all; you should see what she's driving now!

So, without any further adu, my question:  What's a 240 like after it's odometer passes its second century?  I sold mine before it even made it to 140k.  Also, is the '89 XE going to be anything like the '91 SE I can't seem to "shuttup about .. ever"?

Thanks.  Oh, and if you stumble upon a similar car, back off! Well, unless you plan on letting me ride around in it as much as she does.  Didn't think so.  =)

BTW: I don't know about the 200,000 mile mark, just felt like being a post whore.
