Car had been sitting for a few years . Decided to bring life back into it thinking a new alternator , battery , spark plugs , belts , oil change and filter replace would work . Heard the fuel pump and antenna power up and hopped inside to start up. Inserted the key and turned to prep and all power was on, but when I turned the key to start up position I lost all power? Been searching and I think found some possible solutions. One being checking the condition of the wire from the alternator to chassis ground cable , the other two being a fusible link , or something shorting behind the dash . Any tips or knowledge would gladly be appreciated before I tear the car apart :)

When the power goes dead when turning the ignition its always a faulty ground.

Check all your ground wires, body grounds, and engine grounds.

It will more than likely be a larger gauge ground being that you loose power upon starting.

Being that its been sitting check to see if any vermin chewed any wires in the engine bay

Check the grounding surfaces for good contact as well, you may need to clean the grounding point to make good contact

Thanks for the information. It did end up being the ground not fully making contact .
