Wow, that is a lot of money. You can still get FD's for that price lmao. I wanna say the winner paid too much, but this is classic BaT.

I'm with brndck, just buy a ZN6 that's lightyears ahead in tech with better aftermarket support at the same curb weight. *vape not included*

did you read the comments from the two top bidders?

both owned the car in 1990 new, and the winner met his wife in pretty much the exact same car.

not bad for a 30 or 40 year wedding anniversary. I know people that spend way more for way less.

I did later on. Still crazy. I sold mine privately for 1/4 the price lol. At any rate, I am happy the car will continue to live a good life.

I am giving it my best effort to keep both S15s. I have a feeling that by the time they can come back I'd be trading evenly for an S13 hatch or Silvia. Who knows. It hasn't even been that long and I miss that hatch life.

There were 3 other bidders fighting for it. What was their reasoning? They all couldn't be bidding on it for their wives.

One guy seems to be old guy with money (referenced college/med school in a 1979 Midget)

Another seems to just bid on old cars with a cap around $20k

The main 3 bidders seemed to all have owned zenki red hatches at some point in their lives.

I would probably do the same for a 1993 manual SE coupe with no sunroof and HUD windshield.... but I've already done it for a different white S13.

Ultimately speaking, this will only move the exceptional cars up and the rest of the drivel will stay low-ish. It's kinda nuts that my low-mile, rare color combo M3 could be equal in value to a low-mile S-chassis, though.

Has anyone found a perfect or near-perfect automotive tweed that matches the stock upholstery?

Just picked this thing up!

I've been saying for a few years now that I've just wanted to get a stock s13 to go full-boomer on and I finally got this one. Last registration was in '03. Put a new clutch safety button thing on it and it started right up.

Just started to daily drive it for the next month until I buy a new truck. I've never seen an s-chassis this stock, ever. Still has the stock radio and shift knob. Near mint interior besides carpet. Super happy to have it and keep it how it is.

Infinitely jealous. I can't even find a nice hatch here. I frequently check the current state of the SChassis market and it feels like they are running low on good cars :/

Will get this car imported and registered in the next 30 days. Will also probably be my last fun car, ever, if I can help it.

the $32k car sold for nostalgia reasons + 2 bidders wanting the same car, not because of the condition of the car.

the PA car was undervalued because 1) the seller probably though he can get $20k+ for it, and 2) the color combination isn't highly desired. having said that, the car had the handling package and is completely stock, so at least the appetite for the car is there.

Great thread here. I have pics of mine on another phone. I'll try to post them tonight. Mine is a 92 coupe with factory jade green paint and working hud. My list of mods are:

Eibach pro kit
Energy suspension master kit
Energy suspension subframe bushings
Kyb adjustables
Cheap 16x9 wheels
Cross drilled rotors and hawk pads on stock brake system.

Basically increasing prices just makes it seem more worth it to fix all body issues on my 97 and get it repainted. Not planning on selling, but spending $2k+ for paint and body work starts to make more "sense" if the car will end up being worth $10k, vs spending a bunch of money on a car only worth $3k.

Just hope we start seeing more quality examples as owners give these cars some TLC, and not just a bunch of busted cars thinking theirs is even close to the same league.

This car has been for sale for quite some time now. The mileage is impressive, but the car overall is questionable.

A few pieces that stood out:

Rust under the passenger frame rail

Replaced radiator core support. You can see non-factory welds on the underside pic. It's also missing the usual core support stickers.

Foam missing between the upper radiator core support and the radiator.

Replaced bumper support. You can sort of spot the black bumper support. From all of the S14's I've owned, the only ones that had solid black bumper supports were cars that had OEM replacement bars installed after an accident.

The front fender fitment is noticeably off compared to factory where the fenders meet the door. The gap is tight at the top and gets wider as you go down.

The inner fender edges in the engine bay makes me suspect a complete respray on the exterior.

Engine has an aftermarket crank pulley.

Rattle can undercoating on several sections of the car. The front TC rod brackets, fender wells, below the spare tire, etc.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/ii246/CrimsonRockett/engine_bay.jpeg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds

https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/ii246/CrimsonRockett/Underbody_S14.jpeg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds

Someone definitely put a lot of effort to make it look as original as possible, but made noticeable mistakes.

It's a clean car, but I'd argue it is worth less than half of what it's up for due to the repairs and obvious signs of rust.

Oh I fully understand, but considering a 1998 240SX w/ seemingly paint damage/repair sold for $25k I doubt people would care.

Wasn't aware the car was "for sale" for so long though...

OEM clips and trim are nickel and diming me over here, but most are so old and brittle they just crumble once removed. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210214/482a4c4989b7f5268f25aef64eaea00e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210214/0ae4405576a888bfd163fcefeccea3dc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210214/dbe5ae96294c656d7151818d9beac070.jpg

Im all about keeping restoring one. Just need to find coupe for an S13 coupe for a decent price... Hell I would be cool with a rolling chassis. But this topic is no joke, I met a man that has one (with title) and is parting it out. Wont sell me the rolling chassis because he can make more money selling everything off of it then dragging the shell to the scrap yard... it almost made me sick...

You should ask him what is buy-out price is. I'd be interested to see what he thinks/knows it's worth...

I think I'm going to take the suspension and shit off my S15s. Maybe once I do that, I can post here again...

If anyone else has cars the fit the description, please post them. Shit isn't getting any better here with SpecRs and turbo S13 Silvias touching $30k-$35k. Keep on restomodding/OEM+ing.

It's great to see preservation of original examples. I've recently come upon my father's 1990 S13 Fastback he purchased new and still with the original KA24E (or as I refer to as the "Japanese Iron Duke") sadly parts are quite hard to come by. If anyone has info on the engines and such, (also if anyone is looking to off load a stock radio and/or a climate control face) any messages would be greatly appreciated!

The only thing I'm not particularly in search for is the sun visors as they are always hit-and-miss thus these are some new ones I custom built from scratch.

Does anyone have a source for the plastic turn-clips that connect the various door handle and lock mechanism bars to/from the latch etc? There are multiple shapes/colors. I asked Nissanparts and they said they're discontinued, but pretty sure they are the same on all Nissans even current ones. Is it as simple as matching the shape/color?

So for some reason, the search database on Nissanparts.cc is missing a lot of items. Plus they use the very low resolution images for a lot of items so it's even harder to find what you want. I would recommend going to parts.nissanusa.com and searching that way. Then just search by part number on nissanparts.cc for the best prices. The Nissan USA website also shows you a quantity needed, pretty handy when ordering a bunch of grommets, clips, and screws. That site is showing 4 total part numbers for the various "HOLDER-ROD", and only 1 is currently discontinued.

Theoretically if looking for used you can match up by shape & color.

I just did a quick search for one of the part numbers, and found Dorman sells a door rod "assortment" kit. Also seems to indicate Toyota also used the same style clips. So that might help broaden your search if scouring a junk yard.

My effort to save another one.

'95 Zenki slick top. I was waiting for the right Zenki to come up for sale to install everything I had held onto Navan wise.

This one wasn't a bad base to start off with. The interior was pretty beat and there were a lot of worn/broken pieces I had to replace. I prefer worn original paint versus dealing with something that's been resprayed multiple times.

Honestly, I haven't looked this up in a while.

They used to be readily available through local Nissan dealerships several years back, but I forget if one side was discontinued at some point or if it was just easier to source directly from UK Nissan stores.

I haven't been updating this FS thread as much as I should have, but the first post has relevant info (especially in the link to the Google Document I've put together):

Good news is, the zenki/kouki glass headlights are NOT flagged as stop production, I have about 60 pairs of zenki and 30 pairs of kouki on order.

front door lock & handle:

The clips are all there, mouse over the parts to see the corresponding item highlighted. Then cross reference the part via Google search or a local dealer inquiry.

Edit: I also find that the parts diagram on Nissanpartsdeal dot com is better, it's a dealer out in Las Vegas.

I've been on the search for a harmonic balancer for the KA24E and a drive shaft as well having found out the ones currently on the car are bad, transmission guy noted a bad vibration. Going to have the engine mounts in the vehicle replaced and will have a closer look at the issues sometime soon possibly locating weather a singular part or a number in unison, though nonetheless is anyone aware of more reliable methods of sourcing KA24E parts?

Sucks how many people have been saying to just "stuff a SR20DET or KA24DE" into the car, I quite like SOHC variation of the car and wish the engines were more preserved.

Might have to go with a used one for the balancer.
And the driveshaft, Id go with aftermarket. (Driveshaft shop)
The stock driveshafts have that 2 piece connector in the middle and those normally go bad over time and can cause noise/vibrations

My effort to save another one.

'95 Zenki slick top. I was waiting for the right Zenki to come up for sale to install everything I had held onto Navan wise.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/ii246/CrimsonRockett/IMG_9885.jpg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds

Still a long way to go with what I have in mind for it, but I'm definitely happy with the current result after three days worth of work.

Guru Status!!! Love the way shes turning out.

I bought a 2nd aero bumper and got it painted and installed lightyears faster than the AJ4 aero bumper...which is still with a friend in another city...

After talking with mav1178, I'm really considering putting both cars on the Nismo suspension. Going to a track day in May is still the goal, but the BN5 car inspection is due the same month. I might just revert it to OEM and tool around in the AJ4 car. If I put the stock wheels back on and get the Nismo suspension, I'll most likely get the OEM rear pods put on as well.

Hey, seeing as this is the stock preservation thread I thought it would be best to ask here.

I went to the store and was able to find a fabric that looks nearly identical to the stock shift boot and using a laser cutter was able to make it into a 1:1 of the stock. This includes all the holes where it mounts to the plastic bracket.

Given I have the original laser cutting profiles, and easy access to the fabric, if I were to just knock off say like 10 of these at once would anyone be interested?

TL:DR: Made an identical copy of the original shift boot and curious if its worth my time to make some more.

My vehicle is a 1990 240sx S13. I assume it would fit for all S13's, if anyone could chime in about S14's that would be nice. Though be sure to check for your respective vehicle.

Anyone know a paint similar to the greenish-grey satin paint/coating used on various OEM steel parts? Things like the brake/steering lines, S13 power steering reservoir, some brackets.

The typical generic satin black is much darker and shinier. Decent match for the suspension but not these other parts.

SEM makes one. I forget the exact name, but it's discussed in this thread: https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61177-brake-line-color-or-finish/

That forum seems to be down at the moment, but it should hopefully come back.

Most of the green parts are actually zinc plated, specifically it's called 'olive drab' zinc coating.

EDIT: Although the color looks the same, the lines are plastic coated (PVF) rather than zinc coated like the brackets.

Nissan still sells the new boots. it's not quite textured like the original ones but it's pleather...

not sure there's market for this. you can try but it's your time.

If you knew you'd slit my throat.

The way to get a 240SX for a good price is not not buy it on social media or buy it from another "car guy"

My neighbor had one for years, ~100k miles original owner. It looks like it's driven daily, wear and tear but still is okay.

I think she sold it for cheap to another person that used to live next to her, only because she was being bugged about it constantly. I never asked her to buy the car because I wasn't interested in it at that time (had a new BRZ) but now it still sits in front of her house because the new owner has no place to put the car.

May still buy it, but it will probably be marked up.

I got this from an older college professor, they posted it on Craigslist. The title for the ad literally just said CAR, there was 1 photo, and the description was under 20 words. I thought it was a prank, but I still emailed them. As fate would have it, I was the first to inquire. They were somewhat oblivious to what they had, but they absolutely knew they were giving away for less than it?s true value. Their primary concern was it going into good hands. The wife (a law professor) even came and sniffed me out before the deal was concluded, lol. I genuinely don?t plan on ever selling the car unless I or a family member have an emergency expense to cover. Not trying to turn this into a meal ticket on BaT or the likes.

I normally don?t leave notes for neighbors because it never works in my favor BUT if it works once it?ll pay off! Hope you can get the car still at a fair pricepoint.

Hello! This is my first post on the forum. This is my 200sx from 1989, it has around 79k km (49k miles). I bought it for 7k euro (8.2k $). Every button works, the radio/cassette player works as well. It has some rust around the spoiler and just a bit on the right part of the chassis. The only thing I did to it is an exhaust. The original exhaust was in really bad shape. The mid and last muffler were broken and full of rust.

BaT has had some shitty listings lately with picture quality.

As for the car, I feel like the seller isn't really trying to answer some of the questions. Like the transmission showing signs of leaking fluid.

They are so hit or miss with the cars they accept, and I honestly feel like a lot of bidders have a flawed perception about the quality of cars that are listed. Most of the cars I've seen that have been sold on BaT aren't as nice IRL as they are in photos. I have a handful of friends who list vehicles on the site regularly, and they have interesting stories to tell.

Duuuuude I've seen this on your IG. Nice!

Yeah I haven't touched my cars since the track day and the BN5 car is up for inspection soon. I'm really thinking I'm gonna end up putting them both back to OEM, sell some wheels and other parts, then give them the Nismo suspension treatment and some spacers for the OEM wheels.

YES TO ALL OF THAT!

Everytime I jump into my s13, I immediately want to drive the s14 LOL. Aging is the trap of all traps.

Full nismo catalog with god's wheel [R33] would be spectacular.

I had some old stance coils and XT7's on this zenki and I began to hate it.
It is so much better on the current suspension and factory tire size. The interior is MINT too, aside from some door panel caving that the PO "tried" to fix.

Only pic of the interior I have at the moment. I added water temp, oil press and temp after the engine took a headgasket without even overheating. Resealed and cleaned the whole thing. This thing is brand new.

YES! I really want to go down this route with my daily s14.
It looks good!

Thanks! I?m super happy with the setup. Although the 9.5 +15 with the 255 A052 is right at the limit with stock metal out back. I have camber set at -2.5.

Now I just need to find some more OEM aero.

I approve of this but also disapprove of this. I'm getting a daily car as well and I've argued with myself about suspension and wheels already lol.

That'd be great...but I dont have any spare Euro glass at the moment. I'm always on the lookout for them though. Lets figure something out.

There's a vendor in the classifieds section selling both Zenki and Kouki EDM headlights brand new from Nissan.

Yeah man let me know what's up.

Zenki. Kouki ones are pretty easy to snag here.

You talking about Mav? I didn't know these were on the list still...

I should have some content for this thread soon-ish. I feel like it's slowing down but I really want to keep this going. I've kind of shifted gears in the sense of what I'm into lately. I think I'm going to revert my cars to OEM wheels and Nismo suspension. I have some of the parts necessary already, so we'll see how it goes. If anyone has some OEM+ cars, please share them here!

Yes. It's my understanding that he may have sets of both Zenki and Kouki glass available for purchase. Shoot him an email.

I love my glass Zenki headlights(with leveling sensors). Hell I might purchase a spare set just have them just in case. Same goes with the new Kouki tail lights he has.

He doesn?t necessarily have them available. Order must be placed and there?s a long lead time. Currently still waiting for shipment. All that info is available in his post though.

That being said I did place an order for a set of zenki glass. Gonna hide them on the shelf once they arrive lol.

I put an order in for the LHD Euro kouki headlights with Mav a few months back. The wait is long, but it's worth it considering YAJ is selling old broken RHD sets for $600+ before taxes and shipping. I'm also a stickler for having the correct headlight cutoff.

I'm on the hunt to get a properly fitting s13 sunshade and I'm curious if anyone else already has some recommendations.

I've been hinting at it with various folks that preordered parts (and have sent me emails to follow up) but I'm running into several problems as I inquire for parts and subsequently order them.

S13 Silvia fenders, S13 Silvia corner lights, S14 zenki/kouki EUDM headlights, and several others are all falling into the same pattern:

Nissan has pricing and parts available to order in their system
Order is placed (but smaller quantity as the deposit amount is 80% of order total, whereas I'm charging people 50% for deposit in advance, so I'm fronting 10-50% of the actual order total depending on how much I have on order.
First few POs were fulfilled, so I then order a lot more items on subsequent POs based on what is fulfilled, and also fronting 5-20x more money to make this happen.
Then Nissan will fulfill some items (S13 Silvia fenders, 25 sets) and then flag the items as stop production and cancel the additional ones I have on order (100+ sets)
Same pattern is happening with the S13 Silvia corner lights (~15 pairs ordered/fulfilled, subsequent 150 pair order cancelled after deposit was made)
S14 glass headlights are falling into this situation, the problem I have now is that I do not know the exact quantity that is inbound, so until I know later this month I can't actually contact anyone about their order status because the people that have ordered (~25 people) have headlights that are staggered over 5 different POs on my end, with the first few being test POs to see if the order will be accepted.

I am leaving out some details about this process but one of the things I've accidentally exposed is how inefficient and archaic Nissan's relationship is with their parts supply chain vendors, and how badly Nissan has managed their own internal parts system and how distributers procure parts from Nissan.

The biggest problem is this: when Nissan accepts my PO, I have to pay an 80% deposit via my supplier. When Nissan cancels a PO or parts on order on a PO, the deposit money is rolled over to future orders....

... meanwhile, I cancel the order with the customer and refund them in full.

At this point I have about $150k sitting overseas doing nothing for me. As I've said in other threads, if I took this money and parked it in the stock market or crypto I would've retired already.

Everyone that has ordered will get an update from me later this month. Everyone else, email me...

I can't believe that I've been a member of the forum for 10 years and I never posted my S14. Probably because it was always "under construction" lol

1998 S14 SE (5-speed converted) - Still has a KA

Suspension mods (Fortune Auto 500 coils, SPL arms F&R, Nismo Power Brace, OEM Autech Front Strut Bar, Nismo Rear Strut Bar)
Z32 F&R Brake Upgrade
R33 GT-R Wheels
OEM JDM Aero Goodies (Autech front & fenders, JDM rear bumper + valences)
Euro Kouki Headlights
Reinhard Dual Tip Exhaust
Autech S14 Interior Bits (Door Panels & Rear Seats)
Recaro SR2 seats

I have a few more OEM Optional pieces that are not currently on (OEM JDM Kouki Lip, Navan Side Skirts, etc.)

Yes I know that the S14 is multiple colors. Plans are to have the car completely resprayed (same DN1 color code) down the road.

Jesus, man. If no one else has said it, thanks for what you're doing for the community. That's just... insane. Nissan is not making a lot of friends in the classic restoration market, that's for sure.

That's actually most OEMs in a nutshell.

People outside of buying a handful of parts really have no idea how massive and complicated the OEM supply chain is. They don't care about people buying $100k of parts, they care about the $1M-100M per year type of customers.

People also fail to realize that car manufacturers actually make maybe the sheet metal in-house when build a new car, almost everything else is made outside the factory. Once a car is out of production the OEM parts suppliers typically have parts fulfillment contracts that are only renewed as long as the manufacturer is willing to pay for it.

Although I may be a drifter and have thrashed these cars pretty hard over the years, I actually really do care about the cars so I took it upon myself to save one that has been sitting outside my buddys shop for almost 2 years and was about to be scraped. Buying a car in this condition and restoring it is a daunting task but I feel good knowing that once Im done it will be one more s-chassis back on the street that otherwise would have gone to scrap. Hopefully I can restore more of these doomed cars in the future. Dont let them sit guys, save the ones that need it.
