Listing my '83 Corolla project for sale. $6k. Located in Johnson City, TN.
Summary: considering the age, the car is in fairly decent shape. It does have some cosmetic issues but nothing structural. If you're looking for a show car, this is far from it. I purchased the car in Jan2019 barely running with lots of issues. All of the major ones have been sorted but it still needs someone with the time/patience to get it dialed. The roof rack is functional and setup for thru-axle mountain bikes (boost or non-boost spacing).
The good: it runs / drives / stops as it should. New wheels / tires / interior carpet & seats. Front quad light conversion.
The not so good: no heat / AC / power steering. Has some exterior rust and shoddy body work but for the most part, it's fairly straight. Rear quarters need to be sealed if you plan on driving in the rain. Exhaust work isn't the nicest but doesn't seem to have any leaks. Currently on cut springs and could use an alignment. It does leak a few drops of oil after sitting. Windshield has a crack and the moulding is sub-par. It has a steering box (yuck) and feels super chunky. No radio. Only the fuel gauge works...the others need to be hooked up.
Again, I consider this a project because it still has many issues to dial in. Someone with the time/patience/mechanical means could turn this into a super nice driver. You don't see a lot of these but there is a nice community with lots of info on aftermarket parts/etc. Lots of people swap steering/suspension bits from AE86 corollas - apparently the 4AG swaps are quite common and straight forward as well.
I'm asking $6k. Low ball offers will be ignored. I've seen similar builds go in the $12-15k range and honestly, this car isn't far from some of what I've seen. Especially if you were to swap a fuel-injected platform over and update the steering/suspension.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. I'll be glad to show the car in person if you're a serious buyer - just contact me to set up a time.
