Could I be running like a lawnmower on my VVT blacktop due to a faulty fuel pressure regulator and dumping ass-loads of fuel into the combustion chamber? My plugs are completely black and havent been used for more than idling.

get a fuel pressure gauge and put it in line and see if fuel pressure is too high.

That would be one way to make a car run too rich and foul the plugs

Are the plugs soaked with gas?

I had this issue, get a quality FP gauge and a good FPR (I have a nismo/tomei myself)

So you had the same running conditions? ie: really choppy and lawnmowerish? Because I don't know yet if there is a pressure problem with the fuel system.

I'm really trying to offest costs before going out and spending a couple bills on a gauge and FPR.

Thanks,
Ryan

honestly, you should have both the FP gauge and reg, important tuning tools! Mine was running waaay rich and stubling as well. Turned out to be that my FPR setting was way off, as well as my timing being like 7degs off.

What fuel pump are u running?

The thing that bothers me is that before i replaced the head gasket it ran fine (all things considering)...the car has been up and running is my bottom line...

I have another theory...Where the stock battery was is where the stock battery line hooks to the relocation kit's line (+). I just was starting the car up after the headgasket install and that line grounded to the body while idling and checking things out. Could I have fried my ECU?
