+1 on lack of respect, got mad at some friends who were taking frustration out on a 240 one of them was working on for another individual, they advised they were replacing the panels before customer would see it and failed to see the point...it does cut into profit margins, can help raise prices as parts get rarer but all in all they are also destroying someone elses vehicle...from personal experience (at least here in NM) police wont step in for anything if its private property (office was about 20 ft away when group of individuals took some unwarranted frustration out on my car and advised they couldn't do anything due to this)

It's already hard trying to find parts. But when we see a car in the lot it brings some hope. there are dry spells in the yards, sometimes there is an abundance.

My point is, these kinda issues aren't a problem to you, until it affects you. Even though I don't even own an S-chassis anymore I still remember the shortcomings.

I dont get what you guys are getting bent out of shape about. Have you guys ever been to a junk yard before? No one gives a FUCK about these cars, thats why they are in the yard... waiting to be scrapped. When we were kids, we would take rotors throw them into windshields.

I care. I even remember helping others find parts for em and getting calls from other members HERE about parts found. not everyone is out for themselves. we even had a JY thread in SoCal section. which I dunno if its still active or not, but it helped people.



Walk into any scrap yard and you'll see people smash gauge clusters just to take the LED needles out of lexuses, or tear perfectly good seats to take out the heaters, etc...

All of a sudden we have this crusade to save the 240's...

reality is, a lot of things have changed since those days. that old pick-u-pull scrapyard is long gone - man that place was great and prices were reasonable. but the pick-a-part up the street is total horse shit. the cars i find there are always clapped out. getting any good parts is practically impossible. then, when you get to the counter to pay their prices are sky high. so i rarely bother going anymore.

i'm not saying that what this douche is doing is good, thats obvious. but we're not the scrapyard police. leave that to the scrapyard management, thats their property and their business. besides, i really dont think that one idiot smashing shit in a junkyard is making much of an impact.

Eh, I haven't moderated in nearly a decade and I'm not in a big hurry to begin again. The thing is, I understand both perspectives. IxfxI and I have loved S-chassis for more than two decades, and we've seen it go from obscure car marketed to women to clapped out drift missile, and now to valuable uncommon commodity. The thing is, he and I have always seen these cars as valuable and worthwhile, and the trend followers who have bought cars, smashed, parted, crushed, etc and moved on hurt us in an intangible way. Seeing some dipshit wreck parts on a junkyard car sucks, but the feeling folks in this thread are getting from it is the feeling we've had for fucking decades, and it's almost insulting. Sure it sucks that some douche is being a douche but it's a drop in the bucket relative to the garbage we've seen occur, and knowing that a majority of the people whining about today will move on to another chassis in 6 months or a year or 5 years is just...

as much as i dont like seeing how the car has blown up over the decades (yes, multiple) - you cant stop change. It is what it is. We get older, these cars fall apart, hopefully we can still get parts, hopefully people still appreciate them, and hopefully... we get to drive our shit boxes. But thats all hopes, not reality. I havent driven my car in close to 15 years now. You know, the road to "restoration" is never easy. And now that I own multiple cars and multiple chassis', and have more important shit to worry about (like life) - car projects just end up being shit to do when i'm bored, willing and able.

the last thing, literally, that I worry about is some fucking piss ant destroying parts at the scrapyard. a car that is destined to be crushed, and a yard that is owned and operated by a corporate giant.

If any one really, really cares. Start up a business buying wrecked vehicles off the auction sites and part them out. I'd rather support you than LKQ, pick a part, etc. There is a reason why people who part out cars do fairly well selling on ebay. No hassles for anyone.
