Tranny noises?

I just got my car this weekend and I noticed this odd noise when I'm coasting at a slow speed with the clutch in a the car in 1st or 2nd gear. It's a 91. The noise is hard to describe, almost like a whine. Are there any typical problems with these trannies?

I know it's a shitty description but any ideas or help would be appreciated.
