Hey I'm from big CO as well. I've got a black 95 se, just drove it back from florida. Anyone know of good driving roads around Boulder or Denver? A friend and I are also looking for a place to practice some techniques, can anyone recommend a large parking lot or something similar that isn't too visible to cops?

I'd be down for a meet too. Then maybe I could get some first hand advice on why my SR doesnt run for crap. :) But on the plus side it does run now, so I could actually make it to a meet this year.

Hey. I'm originally from Highlands Ranch/Littleton area but the military has taken me to San Diego. I miss it like hell there but there are definitely a lot more drift events here. Just got to go see D1GP All-Stars Japan vs. USA this weekend at Irwindale so I think I'll survive here for now. Oh, I have a Zenki S14 BTW.

i moved out here from cali with one of my friends. I don't have a 240 anymore. Someone else drove it into "Mt Shasta".

but my buddy has a maroon s13 hatch, mostly stock except for coilovers and replacement ka.

pretty smooth, but a few weeks ago when it snowed and the roads were ice - well, he has bald es100's. HAHA. what a joke. didn't matter what gear you tried to start out it, you just spun your tires. couldn't even get going fast enough to feint drift down the street.

//i have a 91 civic hatch.
//hangs head in shame.
//but, with the right e-brake'age, gas and countersteering, I can manage a clean feint drift for pretty much as long as I want.

Heh, I just moved to CS from Salt Lake City.

I'm mobilized at Ft. Carson for a year or so; just thought I'd introduce myself.

I drive a black '91 240 that I've just barely completed an SR swap on. It's probably going to be in Salt Lake until Memorial Day though.

Anyway, like I said, just wanted to introduce myself.

Anyone in CS, or Ft. Carson, or anywhere wanna hang out just send me a PM.

I hit up denver on monday i had to do some shit down there. Headed to the mountains to see if i could find any good roads. Bad thing about it is that i was driving my hundu but atleast i found some alright downhills and uphills in boulder, co. I feel that theres better roads somewhere around those mountains but i didn't felt like wasting gas yesterday.

Im heading up there in 3 weeks with the 240. Pm me any info on some good roads. I just saw a lot of subbies hauling ass around the corners and some really nice cars taking some nice turns. So im pretty sure i wasen't too far away from the good shit.

Ft. Collins!
Just got me a '89 coupe 3 days ago, and I can already tell what kind of money sink this thing is gonna be!...lol. But she's pristine, I've never seen a car this old look this good. Only had 77k miles on it, with a 'new' junkyard motor thats in fair condition. Gotta poke around tomorrow, dont think the radiator fan is coming on, the temp gauge started shooting up real fast at a stoplight tonight, until I started moving again. We'll see what I dig up...
But any CO or Foco people should hit me up, or if we get really ambitious a CO meet of some kind.

And I guess I wrote that post before I knew the car was a '90...fools at the dealership listed it as an '89. And that the head gasket is almost certainly blown. yay for head!

sorry to respond to such and old post but......i'm sure you've already found it, codrift.org is where most of us congregate and there are events held several times a year up in greeley(one just yesterday 11/19). we used to have events in grand junction until the city shut us down. regular old meets are more often i think. you know bbq's on lookout mountain etc. not specifically 240's though that's what most of us have.

Bump from the dead...

Obviously this corner of the boards gets little-to-no action, but I'm hoping to get some input. Me and my wife are toying with the idea of leaving Southern California for a number of states, but one that has our particular interest is Colorado. (The Denver metro area, or more specifically Westminster among other nearby cities) Just looking for some thoughts from locals on what the area has to offer and/or what drawbacks there are to living there, and how the local economy/job market/etc. are doing. Neither of us are really tied down by a career or kids yet, so we're trying to keep our options open, and Colorado has us both intrigued. Obviously I'm also curious about the local car culture, and how the laws and enforcement are on modified vehicles. (specifically ours, especially since I'm going to want to go SR at some point) All-in-all what I am asking is for Colorado residents to please give an inside opinion on the state in which you live, since obviously everything I'll find on state/city websites are going to be blowing sunshine. Thanks in advance.

RJF
12-08-2008, 02:13 PM
Can't tell you much about the local car scene, spend too much time on the computer running this site, but from a place to live standpoint, I love it here in Colorado, I moved here in 1990 from the east coast and wouldn't consider anyplace else.

Weather is always great, except for the occassional snow, like today, but most of the time the sun is out and winters are quite mild.

Not sure what you do for a living but the economy here is quite diverse, ranging from high-tech to manufacturing, and while the whole country is in a slump right now, the analysts are saying Colorado is well positioned to weather this and probably recover quicker than alot of areas.

As for housing, yes we had the rise in home prices, like everywhere else with some recent correction in pricing.

Good luck, wherever you decide.

Okay, well it's taken some time to work towards it with a stop in Vegas to make it happen, but it looks like we're finally making it to Colorado. (won't have the official word until later tonight I'm sure, but it looks pretty likely) My wife is trying to transfer to Littleton, and if it happens we'll probably be out there within the month. First night we're there we plan on going to the nearest Wahoo's since we haven't had any since leaving CA. I've also already got my resume into a local dealership out there for a tech position, although this is not my first choice. So what's there to do locally and what kind of job openings are there?

Edit: We are moving to Littleton on the 15th of next month. So any input would be greatly appreciated.

So... yeah, anything? Anyone? Planning on getting into town on the 13th. I doubt I'll be able to make it to the DSGP drift event, as the in-laws will be there over the weekend as well. Anyone know anywhere I should apply for work? I've been applying to a bunch of places online already, but any local businesses to hit up that wouldn't be online? I'd like to get into a shop that's geared towards custom stuff like hot-rods and/or custom fabs, but pipe dreams are what they are. I'd just like a place to learn some fabrication skills like welding and metal shaping and whatnot. Any and all input is appreciated.

My god isn't that the truth lol. My roommate has a slammed CRX but at least she has color matched 16" Motegi wheels and it's hovering on Tein coils not chopped springs...

Just for the record I'm in Lakewood with a 91 KA Coupe dropped on stock rollers but I intend on keeping it semi sleeper anyhow. Just embarrassed to bring it to meets with the body in the shape it is.
