i recall something very similar to this happening before, like at least a year ago.
some guy won an evo or something from a dealership on ebay, and the winning bid was waaaay below retail cost, and the dealership refused to sell.

anyone remember that? what was the result?

The dealer must be retarded or something. If you can't afford to sell it under a certain price. Put a damn reserve.

after reading some reviews of their sister Dodge dealership, and a news article about the son of the owners (accused of harassing a customer and kicking his car), I'm NOT shocked by this sort of behavior.

To whom it may concern:
This email is in reference to your recent business practice of a gentleman winning a car in an ebay auction and you refusing to sell it. Just so that you know ebay auctions are a legally binding contract.
I am frequently in las vegas, about 6-7 times a year and love to gamble. I don't win big but if I ever were to you can bet a g-35 is one of the top on my list of cars to list to look at, along with a nissan 350z, new corvette, and new mustang. I am sorry to say though that I would be caught dead before I ever gave my business to your dealership now. I was in car sales for almost 2 years and worked at a smaller Ford dealership were reputation meant a lot. Apparently it means nothing in the least to your dealership after having read about this as well as many other very bad reviews of your sales practices. The right thing to do is to take a small loss and give the gentleman who won the vehicle or another vehicle with the same mileage, options, etc.
I am also carbon copying this to the gentleman who won, as well as several public relations managers at Infiniti Of North America. The following are links to the original thread on a subaru forum, as well as the thread on three other forums that I frequent. All three of these forums are viewed nationwide and as you can see if you look at their memberships, on has over 30,000 members, another has over 15,000 members, and one has over 55,000 members.

In closing Towbin Infiniti, I really urge you to re-think your business practices on this issue.
