I recently took over some 300ZX inventory from a local vendor and it included 2 Philips kits that will work on the 240SX.
About the kits:
These are real German PHILPS ballasts & bulbs in the correct 4100K temp. Please read up on the HID FAQ here: http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html if you think you need higher color.
They are new and never installed, complete in box. I have used the 9006 kit in my 300ZX for over 3 years w. out a single complaint and it has awesome results.
$400 plus shipping.

Agreed - the S15 headlights use the same H1 bulbs as the 97-98 headlights. You would be fine w. this kit.

i believe you could also use it for your s13 silvia conversions. because that uses a h1 bulb as well.
interested if the price could be cheaper

Tons more... all those uses philips ballast and bulbs
Philips don't make HID kits! If someone is advertising Philips HId kit, it's false advertisement. Philips makes bulbs and ballast only. So as long as it's a kit with Philip ballast and bulb, and you have the correct bulb D2R or D2S, you are good to go. 300 bucks or less easily on ebay.
You can even piece up ur own kit, all you need is 2 philips ballast ($200-220) that supports D2R/D2S bulbs and a pair of Philips bulbs, $70-80 on ebay and a pair of associated wires, each should consist 1 ground and 1 Low beam, you can get them on ebay. Just ask those ppl that sells Philips ballast to include them in the deal if you want to buy 2 ballast from them.
Here is some links if you want to piece up ur own kit

I have Philips ballast and bulb. And I paid 365 shipped for my kit, I overpaid $50 or more but I love them and the seller was a cool guy so I am not going to trip about it. Don't get those other ones that is 8000k blah blah. They might look good, blue, purple, green you name it. But it's not the brightest, and their bulbs and ballast don't last half as long as Philips. Philips HID, with the correct installation, should last longer than ur car.
Ok put it this way, why would the German's put that in their Bmier and Mecedes if it ain't top class.

Your information is flawed -
The 97-98 S14 and S15 use a H1 based bulb.
D2S Bulbs are for projector head lights (no colored area)
http://www.yugobernie.com/images/Misc/D2S.jpg
D2R Bulbs are for reflective head lights (have shaded area)
http://www.yugobernie.com/images/Misc/D2R.jpg
However just because a bulb is a D2S type bulb does not mean it will automatically fit a H1 housing. You need to have a bulb that has been "rebased" to match the application you are using it in.
On my 300ZX my D2S bulbs are rebased to 9006, while these D2S bulbs are designed to fit a H1.
Buying items piece meal on eBay etc can cost less IF you can buy the correct pieces for the application. However buying loose off the shelf parts should not be confused with the read made application specific kits I am selling.
