I know that the sr20det starter is unique and it has to be sourced from another sr20det motor only. My starter is on its way out and I plan on replacing the copper myself. I was wondering if the sr20det starter copper was ever shared with any other starters? Thanks.

starter shops can rebuild them...
They want to charge me $70 to rebuild. A friend of mine had replaced the copper in his camry. He bought the copper and did it himself. It only costed him $5-10. Besides the money issue, I don't want to have to wait while they rebuild my starter without a car. I'd rather just pull it, replace it, and put in back in. I guess nobody knows. Thanks

take a ka24de starter and swap the engagement wheel or rotor or whatever you want to call it.
i did this without any trouble(however the engine is not installed yet). a thread was made on 240sxforums and it worked for him.
