I did some searching and read up on the first two pages of results to no avail.
I'm wanting to swap out my 96' cams with some 91' cams and was wondering if this is a direct swap. Is anything needed to be done to the 91' cams BEFORE installing? What maintenance work on the cams SHOULD I do BEFORE installing to ensure good performance? Also would this be a good time to do a timing chain kit install?
Any info would help. Thanks guys in advance.

Its a direct swap. All you should do is make sure that the cams are in good condition (no chunks taken out of the lobes or something like that) and make sure that the timing chain is in good condition. Take off the upper timing chain guide if you haven't already.

Thanks pacman.
Phrozen, here's what I'm wondering...when is it enough searching to justify a new thread? I looked for about 30 minutes through two pages of the most recent threads and all I got was stuff about engine swaps and turbo upgrades.
So here's a question for all...when is it enough searching to just say "fudge it" and start a thread without getting the traditional "FLAME ON" that seems so prevalent on Zilvia. Is there like a min. time limit you should invest, or maybe there's a certain trick to the searching key words that will help turn out more applicable results? hmmm......

The problem is the search function sucks. Whenever I use it, I either get 0 results, or 500. It desparately needs to support boolean operators. I was recently looking for info on fixing pop-up headlights, got 500 results, 90% of them were about s14 or s15 headlights, and I had no way of filtering them out.

Unless your engine is total crap from the start, it'll pass smog. All it does is let a little more air/fuel in and a little more burn't are/fuel out.

Yeah but I'm sure they give you a good mid & high end gain, say 4-8 HP in some places? Based on the timing changes, it would allow time for more A/F in during mid and high(which is where the KA falters) rpms and allow these extra gases time to escape thus providing a more efficient gas flow. This is just purely speculation, based on what I know about the combustion cycle...makes sense.
