ok so i'm a liar like henry rollins, it's only a 9.5 second car, the other KA runs 9.8 seconds, both SOHC. sorry it doesn't run 8's, but also it's not owned by "JUN".

ako ay pilipino!!!
yeah... the philippines rocks (for a 3rd world country at least). machine shops everywhere.... no restrictions on what you can drive or mod... people building their own cars from scratch.... jeepneys with chrome... everything (yeah, we BLING BLINGIN BABY).
LoL... and now, we're also faster than j00.
The Phillippines isnt a 3rd world country, just because a country is in central asia dont mean its '3rd world', maybe not developed as some country's but its not down the shitter like a lot of them.

Technically there are NO third world countries anymore
1st world was the developed west and it's strategic allies (Europe, US, Australia, Japan). 2nd world was the the USSR and Eastern Bloc and China. Third world was "everyone else." THAT, the Philipines fit into.
I think in the post-wall era, the polite term is Core (1st & 2nd) and Peripheral (everyone else).
Either way, while I'm not a drag racer, I dig on the PI and PR econoboxes w/ giant motors and big slicks. Except for the noise, those are one of the greatest things at any import drag event... $50K Supra vs. $3K (w/ rotory swap) Starlet and it's not even close

ever been to the shanties?? live without running water?? yeah....
anyways, the philippines isn't in central asia... it's a collection of 7000 or so islands (6999 or so which are uninhabitable anyways, lol) along the pacific ring.
btw... I know it's not really a 3rd world country. Any country that you can import anything and everything from Japan HAS to be cool (like how you can teach your 11 year old cousin how to drive stick in your uncle's Evo III....).

Anyways... it's gotta be great when there's automotive part stores in one of the world's biggest malls. It makes shopping so much easier.

hey, sup my filipino brothas! hehe, I miss it there, my sister came back from there recently. That's very impressive for an SOHC, but, what would you expect from people who can build "jeepneys" from scratch? I'm still boggled by that.

Filipinos...my favorite asians (they are, you know, the only ones with Spanish blood)...
Yeah, my good friend is filipino...always comes back from the phillipines telling me about the trucks riding around...without a body...just the frame...THATS bling blingin...
But the one thing I like the best is the food...I swear that sometimes when they have pork I feel like its nochebuena (it's prepared kinda like Cuban pork)...but whenever I go over to his place, always got some new, weird shit to try. So far the most memorable have been balot (that was a little too weird though) and those little minnow things soaked in salt water, that you put lemon juice on and eat in rice...those I like...

adobo. yeah my dad use to build and fix up jeepneys when he was a young man. I want to have skills like him someday. Sometimes I feel like buying another 240 because my dad likes taking it to work and when i wake up the car is gone.

don't take offense but what's the history of the spanish background in the phillipines? (or should i say hispanic to be more general). i had two friends in highschool from the phillipines but they had hispanic last names and it confused me somewhat but it never really mattered so i didn't ask. i worked in customer service at a store and i noticed some asians had hispanic last names, not that certain people should have certain last names. again, don't take offense, but while we're on the subtopic, i thought i'd ask.

Spanish make the Phillipines a colony in the 1500s (that's why it's called the Phillipines - named for King Phillip II (not too sure about which Phillip). The Spanish mixed with the locals (I don't know how much was rape and pillage, and how much was voluntary), and even those with full Filipino heritage took up Spanish names to "fit in", just like Italians and Eastern Europeans have shortened and changed their names here. In the Spanish-American war the US took the Phillipines from the Spanish, and basically made it our colony, even though the Filipinos wanted independence...actually, the last part of the war was fought against Filipinos trying for their independence, not against the Spanish. They finally got their independence in 1946...
As the Phillipines is the only Asian country ever to be under Spanish rule, it's a pretty safe bet to say that all those Asians with Spanish names were Filipino...
Of course, thats just from the Filipinos I know. A lot of that can be different depending on what your perspective is...

And yes, I know it's weird that I know that much about Filipino history...but Cuba was subjugated by the Spanish for the same period that the Phillipines was, and at the same time the Phillipines came under American control, Cuba, though officially independent, was pretty much American too...common enemies...yeah...like I said...Filipinos are my favorite Asians...the Cubans of the east...

the best part is that we're pacific islanders... so we can claim to be non-asian too!! (almost). a lot of that spanish culture is in the dancing too (i used to be a part of a filipino folk dancing group).
My grandfather made his business starting a taxi company in the Philippines. He made his way up starting with one car... soon building up a fleet of jeepneys. Automotive mechanics are the basic reason why a lot of my family was able to come to the US (ironically all of my immediate family is medical). Actually, my parents blame my love of mechanics on my grandfathers short time in the US fixing things around the house and in the garage.

yeah, that's another thing. the phillippines was officially independent in 1898, but the americans stayed, and ended up fighting WW2 in philippine soil.
I don't have bad blood against americans in the philippines, it's just that it's our country, and it's not like we can't run it by ourselves. i was born in a US Air Force Base (i'm part white), and that base was the bomb! it had hella shit, I never knew what america was like, but when I came here, it was almost the same. so, it's not all bad, americans gave us the industrialization we have now.
and now, they're helping us fight against those Muslim renegades. I know it's our war, but those fools are crazy, they showed this tape of one beheading a hostage, freaking got me mad. so any help is appreciated, although some people are still against it.
