And i took it up to my friends house, he just likes to check out everything. We look under the car, and notice that the tranmission crossmember is only held together with one bolt. :rant2: We got new bolts for that and got the tranny up riight, so good, we start drivin it now the clutch slips, bad!

Anyway, can anyone reccomend a good clutch and where to get it? Im probably gonna do bolt ons so not gonna need too harsh of a clutch. Im consider the centerforce Stage 1 kit, with pressure plate.

How hard would it be for a bunch of kids to do a clutch job? What kind of prices should i expect if i were to have it done by some shop? Id prefer to do it myself, but also the worry im gonna screw up is eminent. I appreciate all teh comments.

EDIT, 92 KA24DE coupe.

Not knowing what year you have, I picked this clutch since its the same as the S13 but less money. From what I heard, its a fine clutch for bolt-ons. Its not hard to do a clutch, whats hard is lifting the tranny w/o a tranny jack and doing on your back. It sucks, but not hard. You can do it just fine. Oh, and while you're down there, rebuild the slave cylinder, its real cheap (less than $8) and easy to do. Rebleed the system with fresh brake fluid, and you're good to go.

bump back up...

some douche told me i have to unbolt the motor, i dont have an engine hoist, and were probably gonna get a transmission jack from harbor freight or ghetto rig a setup with pillows and ropes. Anyone wanna verify? Also, how hard is it to ghetto fix the removal of the loop system? I saw the bending of the hardline on zeroyon, any reccomendations for that.

i would recommend a tubing bender but it is not needed be very careful not to put a fold in the hardline as for clutches i know many people that have used centerfoce clutches on a varity of applications and have yet to find someone that actually likes them i would say ACT or spec are my personal favs

as for the unbolt of the motor i am not sure on the KA but with my sr we unbolted the DP and the trans crossmember i didnot need to remove my motor i did loosen the mount nuts about half way for extra movement the trans should tilt down far enough with this to remove it

all you need is 4 jackstands, lift the rear high enough so you can spin the wheel so you can turn the drive shaft to unbolt em. Start off with the downpipe, drive shaft, all the tranny bolts and then the cross member. have fun pulling it, once you have it some what loosened, your gonna have to spin the whole housing a bit to keep it from catching the walls to drop it.

if u cant get em with a breaker bar somethins wrong, and if you dont have a braker bar, somethings wrong, a breaker bar is your best friend.

Ok, transmission is off, we got the clutch off and we had the wrong clutch.

What can i use to support the flywheel to keep it from spinning when i try unbolting it?

Back from teh Past!!!

Ok, we did a little cleaning and resurfacing on the car since it didnt seem to need it too extensively, but a new problem arrives.

Background on my car - 1992 with some 1990 tranny, rather odd but it ran before.

When we took it apart, what we believe to be the pilot bearing fell outfromt he bellhousing, all chewed up. Now that we got the right throwout bearing for the 1990, is the pilot bearing different in the 2 trannies? Any help? Im about to search for it too...
