sup guys?
Anyone have racing harnesses? If so, where did you connect them to? and did or do you have them on your stock seats?
Pics would be appreciated.

i've heard that 4-point harnesses can be dangerous in cars without roll cages... mostly in case of a rollover where you can't bend over (and would be crushed due to that fact.. sitting up straight)
anyways... the general rule off the top of my head is that the upper harness should mount so that it comes at least to a 45 degree angle from your back.... otherwise the harness might compress down on your spine in a crash.
from what i've read... the stock lower mounts are good to mount the two lower points... and some point on the rear seat (the rear seatbelt mounts perhaps) or the rear deck should be used.....
Edit: Ideally they'd be mounted to the rollcage itself right? (if there is a cage...)
tell me if i'm wrong someone??

yes ideally they are mounted to the cage. bolts you mount the harnesses to can rip out, but if you wrap em around a rollcage, well you aren't going anywhere. and yes you are right about the no more than 45 degrees from your shoulders. not sure about the reasoning on that one. i have heard the "harnesses with no cage is dangerous" argument once before. but the sanctioning body i'm a member of requires harnesses in all non stock classed cars, but no cages untill you are in race class. i'll ask them about it sooner or later. i have to install some harnesses sometime in the next 3 months. so i could better answer questions then.

*enter no 4-point harness w/o cage nazi*
Having been at an event where a participant was extracted from a Moosetang that wound up shiny side down, I can tell you I wouldn't do it. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/butbut.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':but:'> :!:

well, you could be a fast mother f**ker and recline your seat quickly..... hmmmmmm.......
If your car rolled wouldn't your stock seatbelt lock? That wouldn't allow you to go foward either so you'd still get crushed just the same, right?

nope youd bend sideways into the pasenger seat because there isent a strap on your right side
imagine your neck trying to to be the fulcrum(sp) for a 2500 pound see-saw
