Hey guys! I'm having an issue where my car won't turn off. I replaced the ignition switch with a brand new oem one. The car starts up normally but the problem that I'm having is that the car is stuck on the On position and won't turn off completely. I'd have to stall the car on purpose to shut it off or unplug the maf. It's for an s13 ka24de.

Are you saying the key gets stuck, as in you cant turn the key back to turn the car off? Or does it stay on after taking the key out?

Sorry I didn't clarify that part! But yes, the car stays on even when the key is completely out.

Was this happening prior to replacing that ignition switch? Also is the car stock with stock motor? There's a good few little mistakes you can make on wiring a swap that can cause this. Also ecu could be the culprit.

Yeah just happened before replacing the ignition switch. Thought a new switch would help but it's still the same. Took out the ecu inspected the inside nothing looks fried or out of place. And the harness for the ecu looks intact. I'm wondering if maybe it could be the relay for ignition behind fuse box on driver side kick panel? Yeah car is stock and stock motor also.

Hmm thats weird, next time you mess with it try unplugging the ignition switch after you've taken the key out. There's still a chance that your problem lies there even with a new one. Also try unplugging the alternator after taking the key out. Just a few easy tests to check, and do the accessories still work after the key is removed? Blinkers, radio, ac, etc.

Hey, I'm having this problem with my ls swapped s13. I've been chasing the problem all over my car. What I've come up with so far is that if I unplug my alternator sensor wire the car will shut off with the key. If I take the accessory relay out under the drivers side kick panel it will start and shut off like normal but with no gauges obviously. And even if I don't start the car and put the key to run (again not start) I have to cycle the key twice from run to off to get the accessory relay to close. There's back feeding somewhere but I can't find it yet. I've tried wiring in a diode on the alt sensor wire because I though current was getting back through it but that didn't do anything. Any help would be so greatly appreciated.
