Jspec.com, very scrupulous with clip picking. Very good reputation. Also, there is a shop in san diego, NeoTech, which has a good inventory, and trustworthy.

Hey I don't quiet agree with that dude. I know the point is cheap stuff is bad most of the time, but it doesn't mean expensive stuff is good ALL the time. Never the less there are shops out there that are both reliable and cheap. You just gonna have to find the right shop, after all this is what this post is all about. And to me reliability = fast. If you want be fast you got be reliable.
Edit, most of the time it's not the shop that makes the engine not reliable, it's the drivers, period.

Those are the main people I go threw. I just won an entire rb20 motor set with everything, for $910. I aslo got a rb20 clip from them for 1000, and a ca18det with everything (auto) for $500, etc... Great prices, great service, great stuff.

Is there anyone at JHOT that I should speak to in particular. I am in the market for a RB25det swap. I would probably prefer a front clip. Thanks.

Brandon...... we used to go through venus. Luke's already got a lot of experience with them....... hahaha.
Ronald is an interesting guy.
Venus has gotten a bad rep, but Ronald definately know's what he's doing and what he's got, even if he won't admit it. We were picking up a mr2 rear clip once and were looking around in the part of the wearhouse that's got all the body panels, hoods, bumpers and stuff. There was a completely mint rb26 stashed behind some hoods in the very back of the wearhouse. We asked him about it and he pretended not to know what we were talking about and finally was like "no no, not for sale". It was funny. We did get some bad motors from him though, so buyer be ware.
Brandon, you're gay or Ronald is gay?

Hrmm... So he knows what he's doing and that includes selling bad motors to people? Doesn't that seem like Venus is worthy of its poor reputation?
I know you probably didn't mean to say it like that but I would expect Venus (supposed shady dealings and all) to be more respectable. This is a company who's received nationwide attention due to it being the source of the SCC 240sx.
Of course I agree in "Buyer Beware" but I would expect that kind of service from Honda importers branching out and not knowing what to look for in a turbo motor. Venus is a company who provides its motors to people all over the nation so I would hope they know what they're looking for while over there. I would also hope they would thoroughly inspect the motor and not buy it if it didn't meet their standards.
I have heard rumblings that "good" SR motors are being taken up like crazy and that leaves the beat on/broken motors that mechanics would probably avoid but they're still being bought up --- not just by Venus but all engine importers hoping to make a quick buck.
Anyways, I would prefer to pay the extra price from a reputable dealer who possibly gets their motors from Venus. If they do, I would hope they would reject a shipment of bad motors from Venus because it doesn't meet their standards. Then 240 owners would have 1-2 reputable sources of good motors to get them from and leave the rest of the world complaining about the bunk motor they acquired on Ebay.
