Anyone run into this problem while doing a 5 speed swap? Went to bolt my tranny up tonight but couldn’t get it in there. I threw an Isis short throw on it before installing since it doesn’t look like it can really be changed without dropping the tranny again. Mainly having a problem getting the shifter through the hole and getting the bellhousing lined up at the same time. Any one have any idea how to do this? Can’t figure it out

Do you have the motor mounts loosened, and the engine tilted back? Do you have a helper to muscle the trans back onto the engine?

Put the shifter in after the trans is in the car. You can leave the base plate bolted on and assemble the lever with the cover after.

Have a helper but didn’t loosen the motor mounts, gonna try doing that

I’ll try that if tilting the motor doesn’t work

Yeah these are fun to install with the engine already in.

Even more fun to install when the car is barely off the ground. Don't give up, I assure you, you can do it.

Also don't end up slicing your fingers off getting frustrated with it. That bellhousing is sharp as hell.

This is 10x easier than what you're about to do, and takes about 30 seconds once the trans is in.

Install the shifter after installing the transmission. It CAN be done with the proper wrenches. A 12mm flex-head ratchet wrench is perfect.
