What up Zilvia!

In my possession I have one R200 final drive gearset.

Nissan R200 differential ring and pinion gear set, pulled from a low-mile factory application. Fits most shortnose R200 applications, which came factory in:

S-chassis (S13, S14, S15)
R-chassis (Skyline R32, R33, R34)
Z-Chassis cars (Z32)
Many others (Infiniti J30, Q45)

YOU are responsible if the gears do not fit your application. This list of vehicles has been compiled from my understanding from reading about these diffs for hours and hours. The only application I can say they fit with certainty is the factory R200 in S13/S14 240sx. Oh, and I guess they fit the fugly-ass J30 from whence they came.

BOTH SETS of 4.90S SOLD 30MR18.

I have one set of 3.92s pulled from a junkyard Infiniti J30

This is a lower ratio gearset, 47:12 or 3.917. This gearset is a slightly taller option than the stock 240sx gearing, allowing you to stay in boost longer and a higher theoretical top speed, in addition to better highway fuel economy. These gears are better-suited for big-spool turbo cars, or high-displacement engines with lower redlines.

Includes the original shims, ring gear bolts, pinion spacers and main caps individually labelled to ensure proper gear engagement. No pinion flange because it is the ABS style and therefore probably useless to you.

Thanks!

FYI there ratios higher than 4.9 available for R200's.

Care to fill me in? As far as I have found, there were some Nismo gearsets in the '80s for 4WD pickups that were like 5.12s or something, but good luck finding those. I understand you can have custom gearsets made but that ends up costing $2000+ all said and done.

Not trying to get off-topic or bump my own thread too much (mods let me know if I'm out of line here), just genuinely curious.

damn really want one of those 4.9s to test out but pretty sure its high for a cd009 probably.

Unfortunately I agree, gearing maybe a little short for a six-speed.

However, if you have a five-speed, and don't care about highway fuel economy, you'll forget all about six-speed swaps with these gears! </spiel>

any vids of a cd009 paired with a 4.9? Track car? Can Spec Z change final drives (prob not)

I would dear not pair a cd009 with a 4.9. First 3 gears will be useless and highway cruise will be 60mph @ 5500 RPM in 6th lol.

lol Dude's exaggerating a little but he does have a point.

I just downloaded a gear ratio/speed calculator Excel spreadsheet from a site called gearboxman. I put in the factory ratios for a 350z CD009 transmission.

Cruising at 75mph will put your engine at about 3700 rpm (which is a lot, but it's certainly no 5500).

Since a CD009 6th gear (0.794) isn't really that much different than a 71C fifth gear (0.759), cruising isn't really the problem with the 6-speed. That extra neutral-time spent due to the extra gear is what gets you. You shift four times to get to the same place (CD009 5th gear is 1:1, whereas on the 71C 4th gear is 1:1) instead of the three times you would with the 5-speed.

However, if this is a straight up NA drift car and you run some smaller tracks, I'd say it might offer some advantages if you're someone who wants a narrow RPM band. It could offer the exact solution you need if you're having a problem in certain corners where 2nd gear runs out of leg, but third is too much of an rpm-drop.
