OK i finished installing an s13 Black top SR in my 91 coupe. Some problems im running with: The fuel pump does not seem to be working at all. It's new, but probably cuz its a wlaboro unit its garbage (right?). The motor cranks and the ecu gets power but my fuel lines are dry. Everything from the fuel lines is connected correctly and everything in the brown and grey connectors are fine too. I cut and solderd the wires directly to each other. I'm having trouble figuring out why it would not turn on. Checked the search already and came out wiht some ideas and such, but still wont feed my starving SR. The ground should be fine too.

Check:
96 black top SR
redtop ecu
walboro fuel pump

ps- there is a 3 wire plug toward my ecu grommit in the engine bay with the colors brown, white and black. Nothing seems to connect to this at all. IF anyone is in the inland empire and wants to help me out please do. Thanks yall.

So the fuel pump isnt humming at all? Is it hooked up correctly and is the fuse inserted and not blown? Walboro's aren't garbage. Also, Im pretty sure you're not supposed to solder the fuel pump wires per the instructions.

sounds to me like the fuel pump fuse is blown or not there or that you didnt wire the pump correctly. did you remember to plug it back in in the back...stupid thought but it coulda slipped ur mind.

also check make sure your ignitor chip is plugged in. but seems to me these guys are right. also check crank angle sendor (duh) and then cry and pee all over the engine

I soldered my fuel pump both times I installed it (Walbro).

First time, I cut spliced and soldered the wires.

Second time, I soldered the wires to the actual contacts in the pump assembly.

Anyway, If your pump isn't making noise (I can easily hear my Walbro in the cabin) that means its obviously not working. Check the wiring, check the fuse and relays. The pump may also be bad.

Once you get it working, if it still wont turn over, you need to check for spark.

Also make sure the fuel lines aren't reversed. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen it happen.

Good luck

thanks for the help. The fuses are not blown. I went ahead and replaced them anyways to see if maybe that could be some surprising problem, but this did not help. I wired the walboro pump... red wire to red wire and black wire to black wire right? seems simple enough. I crimped the fuel wires, i soldered the wires in the engine and dash. Could the pump be bad? i mean its brand new and probably things like this happen. could i test it some how? also i checked for power in the loom of wires that feeds power into the pump and only the yellow w. green stripe has the power. I traced it back to the gas guage. and what up with that little 3 wire plug? thanks again

to test the pump just run power straight to it.

hmmmm..... you mean to the red wire? (just really need to make sure)
i'll check it when i get home. thanks

i had a previous post about this problem i just had... the car would crank and crank and crank... but no fuel... i wouldnt hear the fuel pump prime at all...

first thing to do... you know you dont get fuel... but see if you get spark... if you dont get spark then your ECU is no good..

my walbro 255 is not any louder than the stock pump was...
it came with a rubber isolator, and I have a coupe so I have a seat between me and it.

andrave, I also have a coupe and I can hear the pump easily. It's not super loud or anything, but I can hear it if i switch the key to on.

mixedwell, to test the pump, ground the ground wire and run power straight to the pump. If it starts making this loud whirring noise, it means that your wiring is bad/you fucked up.

If it doesnt make any noise at all, pump is bad.

Good luck

Sorry about that little rant that walboro was garbage (i was kinda pissed, my bad.) anyhoo the fuelpump works like a charm... too bad it doesn't turn on when the key is in. should i run power directly to the fuel pump (from the battery) so that its always powered?

could. if you do run like 10 or 8 gauge so it gets lots of juice, supposedly that makes a difference.

mixedwell, did the old pump in the car work before you installed the Walbro? If so, that means that either you forgot to plug something back in, or you did, in fact wire it up wrong, assuming the fuse and the relays are ok.

If so you need to double-check your install.

IMHO no sense in running wires if you dont have to...

The old pump has a hole in it. Yes it worked... but im not sure if anything got corrupted cuz the car sat for like a year and a half. The pump is good no doubt, but no signal is sent. I followed Heavy Throttle's wiring diagram and even followed it up with Performance Nissan magazine's write up on their sr20det install. What that 30 amp relay conversion all about and where can i get this relay? I wanna hit up radio shack asap and probably run it from the ignition wire to the pump.

BTW: my car trunk was open when it began to rain.... some water got in the tank cuz i had the pump off. What damage will this do to my car?

Water in the gas is no good at all. Flush that out. Run a fuse between the power wire and the pump if you do try to hardwire it.
