I recently finally was able to gain my dream of buying a 240sx I bought it knowing that the head gasket was blown. This is my first time ever working on car and I need some help with getting the headers off to get to the head. I have removed all the nuts and bolts that connected the headers to the actual head. My heat shield bolts all broke and the top bolt that holds the heat shield up rounded and i cannot get it off even with grip sockets. I noticed that their is a pipe going to the headers but i don't know how to loosen it i tried a adjustable with a cheater bar and it frozen or i'm doing something wrong.

That pipe is for the EGR. Usually you will need to soak it with penetrating oil for a day and add heat if needed. Not trying to be rude but if you're having difficulty taking a header off I would be questionable as to your skills taking on a head gasket job.

+1 for heat. Should come off easy after that. I use a propane soldering torch, in lack of having oxy-acetylene at home.

If you're going to delete the emissions you can cut the pipe off closer to the flange and then put a 24mm socket on it.
