Cleaning a LCD screen

Does anyone know how to clean a LCD screen safely? Somehow I got water splashes or someting on it last night and I guess I just spread it around trying to dry it so now I see streaks whenever there is a dark screen and it's annoying me. I havn't tried to really clean it yet just cuz I don't know what could happen. So does anyone know of a safe way to clean an LCD screen? Thanks alot.

I went to Wolf Cameras to buy a polarizer filter for my digi SLR along with a lense wipe. I also used the lense wipe to clean the LCD viewfinder, seems to work very well.

i used a camera lens cleaner with a damp towel, remember to be really soft on it cause scratched lcds look nasty. if your talking about a laptop lcd i bought a plastic protector for the screen like this
