hi i own a 95 240sx (97 kouki conversion) and im preparing to swap a sr20 into it. my goal is to build a car that is able to stand up to a evo and sti. my friend has a rx7 (fd3s) with about 350 hp and he kills evos btw im talking about track racing. i kno that skill is a big factor. i just sold my dc2 (gsr converted to ls/vtec. ) and i couldnt even touch the evo but i can hang with a wrx. they pretty much owned the straights but in the corners it seemed like i had an edge. the sector time proved it too. but ive move to the fr world and the s14 silvia will be my weapon of choice against the evo empire. but my question is what kind of setup up do u guys recomend. i know that crazy hp will hurt me cuz im looking for a well handling car. my friends rx7 runs with the evo even in the corners. skill wise we are about the same but his rx7 is light year mod wise to my dc2. his suspension setup is a piece of work. well sorry for all this extra crap. if some has any pointers please hook me up.

oh no jackass comment either please

if you don't want any jackass comments, you're on the wrong forum. Good luck.

Good luck. The evo is a hard car to beat on the track. I have both of these cars and have noticed some differences. Lets say both cars are built, coilovers, sr (240), sways, etc.

The evo has an advantage in turn in right off the bat, it also has the brakes. The evo is also well balanced and has a stiffer frame. Now the s14 is lighter and with an sr you will have about the same performance in the straights.
I can post faster times up hwy9 in my s14 by about 9 seconds, and thats on a 2:36 sec course. Pretty big difference. But then again the s14 is built. It is really up to you. And just so you know, a wrx is nothing even remotly similar to the evo in any way.

thanks. i has thinking that i was going to be at an instant disadvantage but there is always hope. the evo is a monster. when you say the wrx is nothing like the evo are you talking about engine or total package? i kno hp is really different

The WRX unless highly modified is no challenge to a Evo. Less power, very bad handling in stock form, insufficient brakes, sucky tires etc. The STI is a lot better but drives very differently. More power than an Evo but less responsive cornering and the car feels heavy. Overall about even. On a road course, the Evo will run circles around a SR powered 240SX. You can get on the gas faster, a lot more balanced, late trail braking and accelerate through corners and unless the SR is modified, has more power too. On a tight course the Evo will own, but with some more high speed and flowing roads, the S chasis has a chance.

Just think of a evo being a stock 240sx with a ka24de, and the wrx being a nissan frontier with a ka24de. That is the difference.

The 240 isn't the only compact import RWD car out there. Get yourself an mr2 turbo and mod it. Show them what MR really is. Nuf said

never buy a rx7 unless you can do rebuild yourself.
the best rwd track car you can build with the lowest amount of money is a miata, it can take on even the rx7.
sad part is that it's such a girl car and worst a convertible(never track one unless you have a real cage).
cheers,

hi i own a 95 240sx (97 kouki conversion)

Alright, what does the front end have to do with anything? Are you trying to impress someone? First strike, useless garbage piled into a bad post.

and im preparing to swap a sr20 into it.

There's a surprise. No one's done that, ever. Could you be more trendy?

i kno that skill is a big factor.

You know this, yet you don't seem to grasp it. Go figure.

i just sold my dc2 (gsr converted to ls/vtec. )

A forum honda onwer, jumping on the bandwagon, didn't see that one coming. Pfft.

but ive move to the fr world and the s14 silvia will be my weapon of choice against the evo empire.

Wait, I thought you had a 240SX? When did you import a Silvia? Or are you a typical ricer idiot and don't realize that a US car is not a Silvia, no matter how trendy you make it out to be?

but my question is what kind of setup up do u guys recomend. i know that crazy hp will hurt me cuz im looking for a well handling car. my friends rx7 runs with the evo even in the corners. skill wise we are about the same but his rx7 is light year mod wise to my dc2. his suspension setup is a piece of work. well sorry for all this extra crap. if some has any pointers please hook me up.

Sounds like you just answered your own question. Buy an RX7.

oh no jackass comment either please.

You have GOT to be kidding on that one, you're nearly begging for it.

I owned a honda when i was 16.
Who cares if hes jumping on the bandwagon, when i got my civic i was 16 and i was jumping on the bandwagon. You have to start somewhere. Luckly I had allways been into rwd cars and a civic was all i was alloud to get.

Yea, he probibly doesnt know how to set the proper cam overlap on hks step 2 cams for more high end power. But then again half the people on here dont, and act like they do. Just so they wont get flamed.
