OK Finally I got this POS running thanks to you guys and thanks for putting up with my dumbass questions for the most part, BUT now I have one of those crazy boggging and shit questions, I have searched quite a bit and found a little but let me tell you some problems and such.

well it idles fine and even revs pretty good and I think it boosted to 1 psi while parked under no load I know, but still should boost when im driving, now I didnt time it, but it seems this is the only position where it really idles fine, so Im thinking im very close to the correct timing, either way I will buy a timing light this weekend.

when im on the road, it bucks a little, and sounds weird, will not boost at all, it will go from like 20 vaccum to 0 boost but nothing above that. a buddy came over and checked for leaks and shit didnt find anything, I do have a hole from a bolt in the exhaust manifold , I swear this hole is for the heat sheild but somehow it goes all the way through, I plugged it a little, but deffinitely not the problem as not much gets through at all,

also when I turn the key to acc, you can hear the FPR making a whining noise like its tryin to open or some shit, also garage smells pretty bad of gas so im thinking im getting too much fuel, Im thinking about buying an adjustable fpr with gauge, my buddy said that I would need a new fpr anyway since the walbro is pushing too much fuel, however Ive never heard of people having to do this when they purchase a walbro, so im guessing that the fpr might be bad,

stock sr plugs were toasted and couldnt even start the thing, so for now im using stock ka plugs, but will buy new ones asap, this is probably not a big problem right now.

I have a z32 maf with safc right now, I didnt mess with any settings besides initial setup, and im sure I did the in and out settings for maf correctly, I think I will buy a stock sr maf to rule out this as a problem.

so any thoughts, anything else you guys would reccomend me checking.

oh also, I might have been reading wrong about how to do timing, there are like 5 marks for timing, I was under the impression it is -5 0 5 10 15 20 but maybe this is for the ka, so when I installed the cas, I had the pully lined up to the second mark, but now I just read a post where people are at like 15 before tdc, this would be -15 right. all the markings look white to me so I cant really see which one is 0.

i would pull safc and maf and put stock maf on, then try and make sure its running right, but congrats on getting it started:)

15 degrees btdc is the second mark from the right when looking at it from the front of the car.

ok, so 15 degrees btdc is where it should be timed right? and when I installed the cas, I had it at the second mark from the left, ligned up to the pin, that should be tdc right.

yeah i believe the second mark from the left is tdc; that means you're 15 deg off, prolly the big reason why the car isnt running right... move it over to 15deg adv

and for the record, please dont go driving the car hard when you've got it ghettofied; get it running right first... you had a hole in the exhaust manifold which hurts spoolup and probably trips the knock sensor; you had no idea what timing you were running because you didnt have a timing light and you were out beating on it... its a good way to blow up a motor really quick

i say that as a warning; not as a flame :) good luck; wish i could afford an SR right now :(

I take your advice, but I wasnt beatin on it at all, plus only had it out for 2 minutes. but yah i was reading on phase 2 and it seems that the way I did it should have the cas lined up right to about 15 deg. so Im thinking its more than just timing. ill figure it out hopefully though.

hmmm
do a boost leak test :) the homemade way involves putting a plug on the inlet portion of the turbo, and connecting a bike pump to a nipple/port on the intake manifold and see if you can build pressure on the manifold; if not you've got a leak

its how the mkiv supra guys do it sometimes

well so a buddy came over today and changed the maf in and out on the safc, and now it runs good, but I am still smelling shit, something that puzzles me is that the air flow percentage will go to 100 percent, I wouldnt think it should, right? this is on the safc that is reading it, also I think it ran out of gas, I put like 3 gallons in before hand, so im thinkin that its burnin gas like crazy, also I heard some backfire a lil before it ran out, Is that normal.

yah i duno if the backfiring is normal, i get it every once in a while, but i got custom 2 1/2 inch exhaust all the way back but i still have the stock cat on there yet to get my high flow, i duno if thats my problem, but congrats man bout damn time lol, just now u gota take care of her.

oh now she dont wanna keep goin, but I am thinkin this kid may have messed with something, cause it was running decently before, then he bolted when he said its just out of gas, but ill figure how to reset this safc or somethn

The only settings that were changed one the SAFC were the in/out settings. They are 2 in and 6out.

haha , it was some other tool that came over my house later and fucked with the in out again, but yah it was out of gas too, damnit. the backfire could be since I have no exhaust right? also im getting a max knock of 3, this is after I corrected it, is that normal,

The "back fire" was more of a sputtering sound. I have a guy that is coming out to look at it even more tonight.

How does it feel to boost 7psi in your own car, but never been behind the wheel while doing so?

:Edit:
Was the guy Beaner? I hope not. He IMed me saying I made the SAFC think the car was a 6cyl.

pmed you

btw we gonna have a mini meet at my house before school, so if any of you cali guys wanna come over and help me get my shit right, ill cook up some hot dogs for you.

oh and yah it does suck to not be able to drive this thing, maybe I should have learned stick on the stock clutch instead of blowin 300 on a new one, DOH, ive never been one to think berfore hand,
