Typhoon Tokage is the 9th typhoon to hit Japan this season. That is a record for one season. It is currently steaming toward the Kanto Plain. It just bowled over us here. My wife is now stuck in Yokota. She was supposed to be taking the Shin back here today but the Shin is stopped and Yokota is currently in TCOR 1.

Yes...actually this is really late, but there is still one brewing in the south that is expected in a week or so.
Florida has it easy. 3 or 4 was a big deal for them. (kidding I know they didn't have it easy. My mom is in Venice, FL)

Yeah, Glad, its been about a century since we got hit in florida like this, from what I hear. Is there any differences between a typhoon and hurricane other than a different ocean?

Yeah, it's phooning here. Well actually, it stopped raining for the moment, but the clouds are just whizzing by. This is about the 5th or 6th typhoon to hit near me this season.. and what's funny is that although this one is the closest one has come, there has been less rain and wind for it than previous, more distant typhoons.

typhoon + september 11 ruined my week.
my friend was coming from tokyo to seattle on september 7, but her mom wanted her to stay for her grandma's birthday, so she changed her flight to the 10th. then there was a typhoon, so she had to stay til the 11th. she was halfway over the ocean when the shit went down. they diverted her flight to yellowknife, northwest territories, where she stayed until the night of the 13th. i spent 2 and a half days just waiting by the phone so i could go pick her up. moral of the story: i hate terrorists, typhoons, and grandmas with birthdays.

While I was on Okinawa we just got used to them and they were expected in the fall. We had days planned into the school calendar for them like snow days. I have been here 5 years and this is the first series of disrupting typhoons we have had. We had one hit us pretty hard earlier this season and lost power for a few days, but over all we've been lucky.
My wife is STILL stuck in Yokota. I am expecting her back tonight though.
