I am really interested in picking up one of these... they look like my 2000 pathfinder gauge cluster..
Differences between Chuki Cluster. Digital Odometer/Trip meter/Clock.
LED round lights are gone, replaced with light up logos.
Faces are grey instead of black.
Because the odometer is digital not analog... would this guage cluster be hard to wire up? will i need new sensors or anything?
Im running Blacktop s13 motor.

get pics of the back/plugs. i'm guessing it'll plug right into your s13.

wiring harness is different on those... I think Old_S13 wired one up in his car... so he would be most knowledgable.

Thats a good looking cluster, never seen that one before. But should be a matter of matching the signals to the right wires. The first thing to do is to find a wire diagram for that cluster...a JDM FSM will definetely show the connections.. and then rewire your plugs the cluster.

The back of mine looks the same as my stock one. Im using my stock one at the moment though. I'll take pics of the back of the cluster tomorrow if anyone would like any (1998 S13 blacktop type x)

those clusters are two plug instead of three plug like all other s13 guage harnesses. More, the 2 plug 98 cluster plugs are integrated into the entire interior harness. It does not have a seperate gauge harness you can just swap with.
So to use it. You can
1. get ahold of a type x interior harness (the one with all the radio, climate control stuff) and cut off the two plugs that go into the cluster. give it plenty of slack. Splice into a three plug s13 cluster harness. most of the color's match up...but you need to follow the circuits on the back of the clusters to be sure (very tedious)
2. Use the entire type x interior harness. that way no splicing is required (i could never find the speedometer signal) from what i hear this is what old s13 did. and what i think is the cleaner way in the end. But this, i think, actually requires you to use the type x j4 ecu and blacktop motor. On the plus side, this is also an extremely easy way to wire up that trick digital climate control. (since you'll have all the stepper motors and wiring needed to do it)
3. Or you could do what i did. Buy a clip you knew nothing about. Swap it in. Splice in the trick gauge cluster but never get all the functions working. Finally sell the cluster to someone else and use a sohc cluster. Swap out speed sensor so the US speedo will work) Find out now your temp gauge doesn't match. Then find out you have no way to see a check light (J4 ECUs have no check lights on them you get a check light off the type x cluster ...which i sold for peanuts not knowing what it was worth  ) Then find out you could have just swapped the whole interior harness and had a cool ass diagnostic scanport, a working checklight, and a sweet looking gauge cluster. :duh: So know i'm worse than when i started and i gotto pay a king's ransom for another damn type x cluster! *note: do not use this method.
Good luck and if anyone has a type x cluster they want to sell me with cut plugs send me a pm!!! :-/

there are motors you have to use too? arg!! haha.
I nominate this thread for FAQ!!! right now before it gets lost with other noob threads that pop up like wildfires!

hehe, althought that cluster is very nice and better looking, I'm still the picky type that wants everything to be in MPH, so I'll still stick to this one lol:

I believe knightrider is one of the few that has this on their cars, only downside is unless u have a ca18, the tach needs to be swapped out.
