from what i hear, the disc tray is flipup now. and no blue LED haha. i think the price is 150? should be out Nov 1 but some places already have them. im debating whether i should get this or wait another yr and a half for PS3. anybody know any sites that have info on ps3?

My personal opinion is that if there is nothing different about it other than physical changes, I will wait for the PS3

if you don't have a PS2 then i'd would get this. PS3 could be on schedule or delay. I'd see a mid-late 05 release for the PS3. Plenty of time to save up again. But if you have a Ps2, then don't get it

i like the new lo-pro design... Pretty slick. It's a shame the original PS2 never went far with its expansion bay. HaLo - you can get HDDs for PS2, but they don't function the same as on Xbox.

i wasnt playing games much when ps2 came out and also becuz i couldnt afford it blah. but im starting to get back into it and neogeo is dying out as well, or its dead. im really into the KOF series or anything FF related. im not broke now either so i can afford ps3 if it comes out. i dont want to spend 150 and a yr later ps3 comes out and i wont even touch this thing.

i really want ps2 becu zof capcom fighting jam kof battle kof 2003 blah blah blah

since pstwo isnt HDD that means any games like FFXI or Socom wont work, but i THINK pstwo can be Lan

bah! if ps3 isnt backwards compatible ill be getting the pstwo for sure then just to play a few games. i know ps3 will be using the blue ray disk tho.

the PS3 not being backwards compatible would likely see me latching on to my PS2 and NOT letting go... That has remained the reason for my not getting an Xbox these years. (well, that and the uncomfortably HUGE controllers)

i got a psTWO for only 70 bucks and got it because my old one is all ruined and doesn't read dvd ps2 games. hmm...hopefully the controller for the ps3 remains the same. it was always perfect to me.

I've yet to want the HDD cuz no games seem to really be using it and I was never a huge fan of Final Fantasy. Didn't even know that you could use it in SOCOM. Oh well I am just waiting for GT4. And have 2 PS2s (one is broken).

my friend installed a 40gb hd into his ps2 and bought some hdd loader disc on ebay or something.. he said he just rents games from blockbuster, copies em to the hdd, and returns the games....

I do the same thing...but I installed the hack for free :) Loads much faster...not too many games online so it doesn't matter. PSTWO was made bc of all the piracy w/ HDLoader and hard drives.

To be honest not sure, whenever I put a game in it it just makes a clicking noise and never reads the disc.

The clikc I later find out is the laser, when it reads it goes up until it can read it, every time it clicks it goes back to the bottom. I found a tutorial on how to fix it it, but it only fixes the PS2 if your laser hieght is messed up and I tried almost every height and it still won't read, so not sure on the fix.

I think its a $50 charge to get it fixed from Sony.

after you put the disc in, turn your ps2 upside down. my friend's ps2 did the same thing and that worked for him, mine even tried to do that to me for a while and turning it upside down seemed to be a permanent fix, now i don't need to turn it over anymore.
