I was flipping through the channels tonight and unfortunately caught a bit of Tuner Transformation (god, what a horrible show) and, unsurprisingly, they were building a drift car. Now, usually I never respond to the dozens of 'drifting in the media/bandwagon jumping' threads, because, frankly, I don't care. But this was the worst case of trendy-obsessiveness I have ever seen: they were using a Paseo! And not even a well-maintained one, this car was worth less than $100 (well, maybe all Paseo's are worth less than that), and they spent thousands of dollars on grafting a toyota truck drivetrain into it and fabbing up a crappy suspension. Mad tyte, yo!

Ehh, whatever... if its not hurting you why cry... deal with it and move on...

i thought it was really cool and was impressed with their ingenuity. to bad they put one of the shitter toyota engines in it and such a bad paint job. i was still definitely impressed either way. it gave me higher hopes of having an s2000 drivetrain in the old school civic si's someday.

Yeah, I was impressed that they put that much effort into it. I just thought it was stupid to sink so much money into such a pos car (they were poking holes through the rocker panels with their fingers), but then again, my wife says the same about me and my car.

I watch that show. The Paseo was the only one I've seen where they actually did some fabrication. The three people on the show don't know anything and sub out all of the work. They love vinal graphics. At least they are easy for the car owner to remove. A Sweedish guy named Hans built that Paseo, but recieved almost no credit. They showed someone "drifting" the car when it was done. All they did was doughnuts and 180s. I will give the "boss" props for racing a 280Z. That car looked pretty cool (except for the graphics).

This show was pretty horrible. The funniest part is at the end when the guy tried to drift it. All he did was spin out. As I first watched I thought they might have been cool enough to source a NA 2JZ or something, but a truck drivetrain? I found myself yelling at the TV for an hour.

Oh and don't worry, they did put "Tuner Transformation" decals all over it, including the huge one on the hood.

god damn someone needs to license the "jDM TyTe Yo" phrase and that said person will be paid gratuities when someone wants to use it.

honestly who the hell cares about what they did. all the power to them.

we are a funny bunch though, we don't like people referring to our 240sx as purely a drift car but when we see someone make another car not seen before as a drift car we snuff our noses at it because its not the standard 240sx-180sx/s13/s14/s15/fc/fd/ae86/etc.

if only we can get k.tsuchiya to drift the paseo in "drift bible 2" (lol) and if we can get ken nomura (because thats the only japanese drifter that wannabe drifters can remember, because their brains are to puny to remember full fledged japanese names) to ditch his er34 and drift the paseo in the d1, then all the kids will start buying paseos!

That's the thing, you aren't gonna drift that paseo, it is not balanced and they surely didn't set it up right. All you are gonna do is spin that thing out. And it was more a problem of the 16-17 guy on there who was "into drifting", but owned a paseo. And I hate those guys on there for talking shit about the KA the one time they had a 240 on the show.

I didnt see the show but..

They built a drift car out of a super light shell. All it needs is some reinforcement. The car will be better balanced as a rwd cause transmission, driveshaft, and rear axle vs the engine.. I dont know what kinda engine they used but if it's a 4-cyl 22r that's dope. I'm sure the car would do fine if setup by a knowledgable suspension shop and that engine can take a shitload of abuse. Sure it may be ugly but you guys are complaining about the whole car, not the looks so i dont get it. What gives?
