S13 reverse light question

Hey, I have a s13 with a sr20. I replaced my transmission recently because 2nd gear was gone. After replacing it, the reverse lights stayed on. I figured the switch was bad and I replaced it. When I hole the switch in my hand, I can turn the lights on and off. But when I put it in the trans and put it in reverse, nothing happens.

Since it worked perfectly before, what in the transmission operates the reverse light switch?

The only information i found was on "MT-5" of the service manual

sorry it is not really any help but maybe it will give you a lead. form where it is located it seems like it would be triggered by the shifter fork or something on the shifter fork shaft for 5th gear and reverse.

Thanks I appreciate your answer. I think I'm gonna put it on a toggle switch until this one breaks too. Lol.
