Hooked up my RSM with G sensor tonight, and took it out. That thing isn't accurate to the millisecond or exact hp, but its a pretty damn good indication, kinda like the G force thing...I haven't tested the quarter mile yet (don't feel like doing over 100 on public roads), but I tested hp and 0-100km/h (0-62mph)...0-62 was 5.5, but I spun the wheels all through first gear, didn't get any traction...my hp was 271, which is crazy...thats 325 crank hp...im creaming my pants.

Not bad at all for a cuban ;-) Hehe, j/k :-) What all have you done to the engine?

Black top SR20, so that's 220 crank hp to start with...
Greddy 3" downpipe
Apex N1 Turbo
Blitz LM FMIC
Sard BOV
HKS intake
AVC-R set at 14 psi of boost

Yeah, sorry mods...meant to post in chat...

Cuban, that is freaking beautiful. That is what I wanted to hear out of the s14 engine... as soon as I know about emmisions I want one, cause that is not a lot done to the engine to make some serious power... that is all the power I think I would ever want anyways...

How do you know if that thing's accurate?? Do you know your real HP??? On Sportcompact it tested it out to be fairly accruate but how is it workin on your car???

I wanna get one too.. should I?

I know I will.. I just love those gadgets!!!

Import Tuner ran tests of the RSM as well, and they said it was accurate to 1/10th of a second on the 1/4 mile, and really accurate measuring HP as well. I'd trust it, that's a few good reviews of it, and no bad ones yet.

And aside from the RSM, Mark's ass dyno thought it was HOLY SH!T fast

You should roll over to Altered Atm. in G-burg and put it on the rollers so you can post a nice pretty graph!

Eh, save yourself the money, use street dyno. It's no less accurate than a Gtech or RSM-GP.

where did you get the sr from and who installed it? Price etc if u can i'm just curious.. that sounds awesome,, after college i can start thinking about that.. i'm so broke now..

Got the motor from Venus motorsports in California...it was 4g for the clip, but I'm about to recoup some of that by selling all the parts I didn't use. The install took place in my garage...it was me, HippoSleek and uunija...

Altered Atmosphere hopefully this weekend...I'll post as soon as I go...

EDIT: As far as saving money goes, the RSM takes off your speed limiter, allows you to adjust boost by rpm or speed (forget which) with the AVC-R, and gives you lateral g's...I feel better cutting out the speed limiter using this than cutting a wire.

Does it take out the speed limiter off an S13

what is this thing? how much?

Apex-i Rev/Speed Meter with G-Sensor... I can get sell a brand new unit for 300$ (including G-Sensor)...

Does it cut the speed limiter on the S13? I guess it does, since this piece of electronics is universal.

www.apexi-usa.com

Plugs on the ECU to give you accurate reading on speed, voltage and RPM...

Yeah, it's universal - it cuts the speed limit on any car, or sets it (you either set it at a certain speed, or turn it off).

Hello Crazycuban......

I also have a RSM-GP, but seems like I can't quite get the loss-power right. Can you tell me the right way to test the loss-power? thanks!

Loss-power? Explain...

I just got it hooked up, so its not totally figured out yet.

well in order to get the correct numbers on the dyno, you'll need to test-run with the loss-power configurator. (Measure mode, number 6 LOSS-P). I think you're suppose to run to a certain speed, shift into neutral and let the car just slide, to get the loss power data from friction and drivetrain. I notice a BIG difference between before-and-after loss-power calculation when I do the dyno. It's just totally wrong if you don't calculate loss power.

But 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. measurements don't require you to do loss-power. That's why those will be okay even if you didn't calculate yet.

Well, I have it scheduled to be dyno tuned today at 2, so we'll see how off it is...

why do you need to dyno tune the RSM when it's a dyno tool itself?

Or you're in for dynotuning other things?

transient

it's not a real dyno, it kinda judges by G's and wheel rotation and stuff how much HP is in there. I'm guessing that if you dynotune it it gets more accurate.

crazycuban
03-13-2002, 10:06 PM
Yeah, exactly. That, and the fact that I'd rather have them play with the air/fuel ratios - the SR is an expensive motor to blow up, and if they blow it up, they pay for it. See my post in chat about the dyno session...

Oh yeah, and the RSM isn't really a dyno tool, considering that it can give a hp graph, but not a torque or a/f ratio graph.

oh so you're in for tuning your S-AFC or some sort of fuel controller?

It's just that the RSM doesn't have anything to be tuned.... only loss power which just needs you to testrun and record the loss-power amount.
