View Full Version : Sr20det on 10-12 psi! Tune needed?

What's up guys I have looked for this answer but everyone's opinion seems to be different. I have a stock t25 and injectors blacktop with the typical bolt ons, fmic, 3in exhaust, walbro.. and I'm trying to figure out if running at 10psi if a enthalpy tune would be needed/smart for reliability.

Nah. Stock boost is 10 psi, so you'll be fine. The T25 won't hold 12 psi either. It will spike there in the midrange, but taper back down to 10. It's a small turbo, so it just can't provide enough airflow to hold 12psi to redline.

10 PSI is fine.

So if I just boost up to 10psi I should be fine without a tune? I say this because my afr's are lean at part throttle. Fuel pressure is good at 3 bar

So how lean are you?:rimshot:

id say stock ecu is fine. run 91 octane or better, absolutely get a aftermarket fuel pump, maybe even consider getting your injectors cleaned and flow tested
10psi is the max I would recommend on t25
once you start throwing on other mods, like t28 or bigger, 550 injectors, z32 maf, etc, THEN invest in an enthalpy.

10 PSI isn't stock on T25. Its actually 8.5PSI. I ran 10 and its very safe.... I have ran 12 PSI and turbo didn't last longer than 9 months. Blew a water seal.
This was on a very clean T25 and SR20DET.

12psi is stock on redtop/blacktop motors with the JDM wastegate solenoid hooked up... the factory wastegate on the turbo is set to 7psi via the internal spring. the motor tapers back to 7psi in higher RPMs using vacuum via the wastegate solenoid... but seeing as NO ONE has one in their car anymore, just get boost controller, set it to 12psi, run 91 octane and youll be fine. i ran 12psi on my factory T25 for the better part of 2-3 years, it FINALLY developed a water seal leak and would smoke at idle on occasion. went to an S14 T28 and never went back. im currently running an S15 SpecR turbo on my blacktop and it maxes out the injectors at 12psi, but its a much larger turbo.
one suggestion, buy an S15 turbo... it will make a HUGE difference. its like a monster next to the T25 and you can push roughly 300whp (depending on what type of dyno youre on) with it and a power FC on E85

It's not 8 psi or whatever. In japan the car comes with the boost solenoid, sets it from the factory at 11-12PSI

Lol I'm on PowerFC and s15 turbo, made 320 wheel on 91 thanks to bardabe... no need for e85

It's not good.. it's not at wot, wot is 11-12. It's like 50% throttle and it goes from 14.7 cruise to 16+.. I just spend this afternoon making a boost leak checker and the only thing I could find was a bad leak on the coupling going to the turbo inlet. I believe that could be causing it because the way my pos intake pipe is setup the coupling will not slide on the turbo inlet flush. I will be checking for exhaust leaks before the wide band bung in the morning when it's colder also.

I believe that's the route I'm going to take, I already have a walbro in the car but it could use an aftermarket fpr to turn it down Because it's 45 with vac, 55 without. But yet my wideband says I'm running lean.

That's awesome man, my plan is t28, 550's and enthalpy tune or powerFC. Eventually lol but for now I just want to get all the maintaince done and go ahead and fix the typical stuff that goes out. I just bought the car two weeks ago lol.

go with 740cc... its always better to have larger injectors and keep your duty cycles lower than to push smaller injectors harder. that way if you ever go UP in power you have room to do so.

dyno jet or mustang dyno?
It was on a Dynocom , eddy load dyno. Reads lower than a Dynojet (by quite a bit) but as we know nothing will fuck your ego up like a Mustang / Dyno Dynamics. pacotaco does have PonCams, Greddy intake manifold and a Djetro power FC but the Injectors are tapped out.

12psi.
Ran my t25 at 12psi daily driven for four or five years never had a problem. Barely more than stock boost.
