i have a boss dr. rhythm drum machine, but it's broken. now i just have samples of drums and sequence em in cakewalk. it takes longer but it's a gajillion times more flexible

I have Fruity Loops Studio Pro, not the shitty free version... I like it and will like it more when I get a keyboard and drum machine. Trade beats and loops? No thanks, I believe I would order someone killed if I heard MY shit somewhere else

then theres protools
I had protools once...
... Then I woke the fuck up and realized that I work 50-hour work weeks to get a damn '89 Nissan 240SX road worthy and crahshed back to reality.

was it that hard to use or what?

I was making a joke... A friend of mine does have it, and it is actually quite user friendly, my joke eluded to the fact that protools is fucking EXPENSIVE.

hah, i was gonna ask that cause i couldn't understand if you were being serious or making it funny... i hate the internet sometimes...

yeah protools is expensive, so Reason is the next best thing, if u know what your doing. waiting for a update so it will use Korg boards much better.

Then I may look into it then, seeing as how once I get the car to where I want it, I will be hunting a Korg Triton Classic and a better computer, then locking myself in my bedroom for days on end, without porn this time for a change.

I guess we will call it "urban" music, I have done mostly hip hop, but have dabbled in a bit of R&B and tried some dancehall, but I have a hard time re-creating the dancehall sound to like what I make as much as what I hear.

i thoguht fruityloops was pretty cool. i had the "shitty" free version, but i still managed to make a couple of beats. but that was a long long time ago. i just got Reason a few months ago so i could get started on this music thing again, but i opened it up and mannnnn its complicated. im gonna need to sit down with it a'la philip to figure it out.

ive tried both the demo and the real version of fruity loops. to me the beats sound cheezy if you dont use samples. then again 9th wonder does makes his beats on fruity loops! and the murs 9th edition album was pretty dope. so i dont know, im fuckin around with reason now. its a lot better. but then again its preference.

Keep in mind that there are 3 versions; the shitty free version, the *slightly* less shitty registered version (think it's like $19.99) and then there is the $209.99 Fruity Loops Studio Pro, i got this one for free from one of my boys, I don't ask questions... Read in Scratch magazine and asked 9th in Durham in a chance meeting in Northgate mall a few weeks ago, this is the one 9th wonder uses, the COOL shit is that he does all of his sampling and somehow manages drum patterns that don't sound so cheesy, where I still find myself wanting a drum machine. I think I'ma rob an old lady for 4 grand to get myself an MPC4000... If you like the Murs 9th edition, check out "Black is Back," where he remixed Jay-Z's whole album on his own beats... Then Check out 9th's group, Little Brother, he produced all but 3 of the 18 tracks on their album and it actually makes me proud of Hip Hop coming out of NC.

Anybody think that with more people trying to make music that there will be a bigger rush of good music to listen to? Or will the ratio of good music to crappy music stay the same with just a larger overall quantity of stuff out there....hmm? :blah:

ive heard black is back also, that was a dope one too. lol, i'd settle for an mpc1000, wouldnt mind a mpc4000 though! yea i guess i probably had the other versions of fruity loops, i didnt really explore it or use it much tho. maybe ill try it out again some day. for now ill stick with what im running.

I've used Rebirth 1&2, Reason and Fruityloops. All the pro versions. I like Reason the best and still use it midi controlled. I have a MC303, 505, 808 and a Triton. You can't beat anologe controllers. Grabing a knob with a mouse just doesn't do it for me.
