Autopower, or Kirk racing.
"JDM" roll bars aren't designed around US sanctioning bodies and cost more. So why bother?

basically, the walling on the cusco cage is too thin...therefore illegal for US sanctioned competitions. examples of event that dont allow cusco cages: D1 Grand Prix and Formula D. Autopower, however, is legit. Just get a autopower.

that is funny how cusco and safety 21 are supposedly illegal for d1 and such.. but low and behold look at some of the cars running in d1 and they are using cusco.. go figure
maybe they're custom cusco cages lol

If you go autopower, make sure you check the fit of someone else running one. I have the 4pt "race" roll bar in my 86 and I'm not thrilled with the fit... it's beefy and I feel confident on the track, but I wouldn't mind if the main hoop was 3" higher (pretty much my only beef with it). They probably wanted it to fit the sunroof models well :\
I ordered from ioportracing... excellent service.

Custom cages will run from $400 for basic roll bars to $2000 for 8-point race ready cages. It all depends on the builder.
Custom is the way to go. Fit will always be better, and you can get it done any way you want.

It's called Cusco sponsors D1 events, so D1 lets drivers go with the cusco cages. That doesn't change the fact that any cage that bolts together is a complete joke.
Real US Racing sanctioning bodies (read: SCCA, NASA, etc...) will not recognize cusco/safety21 cages due to the bolt together design and improper material (tube walls too thin)

Was this done in a s14? did you go with a cage or a bar? do you have a sunroof?

rbs14s cage looks to be a nice fit. However he needed to cut the legs on the hoop for desired fit, and cut and weld all the other tubes.
Cusco cages are a joke. They are not even close to the wall thickness req for scca, or nasa pro racing. Us drift allowed (tolerated) them this year, but not next year. Auto power is the most cost efective from what i have noticed.

Does autopower have an s14 with sunroof application? I looked on that ioportracing site but i didnt see anything that specified sunroof or not.

yea, thats the one i suggested....
i personally havent tried or seen an S14 application yet...but the muscle car people/friends that i know have them and say nothing but great things from them... You'd have to give them the dimensions of your cage though if u want one done by them, unless they have it on file and not updated their website

I am about to get an autopower 4 point for my S14, the diagonal crossbrace should be included right? I will be tracking the car, SCCA/drift events. I read somewhere that sanctioned bodies require the crossbrace.

okay so autopower offers an optional removable diagonal. does the fact that it's not welded to the main hoop make it pretty much worthless? or is it still legal for events?

I had a full 8pt bent up by ca chassis works, but I only did the hoop and rear support bars making it a roll bar. I was too lazy to put the rest in. I took all the measurements and they bent it up for me. I've still got the spec sheet, I can send it to someone if they want to have them bend one up for them. I had the front A pillar bars bent to go through the dash air vents too, it would've been sweet. All their stuff is mandrel bent too, so it's REALLY strong. They won't install it in your car for you though. The only people who should think about having them do it are those of you with fabrication skills and tools. grinders, chop saws, welders etc.

Is S13 and S14 the same on the inside?
not sure but I know Technosquare makes a bolt on cage with sidebars for cheap.
Very close to roof and panels. Check it out.

I believe Enjuku is working on one for the S14. You may want to give them a call and see how long until it is released. I have seen their S13 cage in person and was impressed.

"i'm driftaholic." The diagonal cross brace is either welded to the cage from autopower, or you have to purchase the diagonal brace, which can be bolted in, or welded in. Scca has not yet specified if diagonals have to be welded in. All they say, is that all joining, bolted together tubes, must use spiggots of the same cage piping thickness.
Also just so you know. SCCA (formula D ) req's a diagonal brace. They also req door bars, and a harness bar. This is why autopower is so simple. It allready comes like that. No need for cutting, or welding (unless you get the 6 point).
"Rownan" The diagonal cross brace is not included, unless its the race cage. The street ones are optional. I would still ask, to make sure they dont send you a street cage. Also remember, if you are doing formula D. You will need door bars.
"revat619" All there cages are made to order. Just tell them you have a sunroof and they can adapt for that. With my autopower, i let them know that there is no interior, and to make the cage a little taller and wider.

Thanks!
Forumla D requires a full 6 point? :eek3: I'm not prepared yet to turn my S14 into a full race car, nor do I have plans to make it to formula D anytime soon. I think I'm just gonna go with the 4 point with harness bar and diagonal crossbrace for now. It's only another 200-something for the weld-in cage if I change my mind down the road.

Good point. Also remember, that when you buy your harnesses, dont get the Y type harnesses, Get the individual belt 5 point, and make sure its 3". This is whats req for formula D. That way you wont have to buy new harnesses if you ever go. Also formula D req's driver suit, shoes, gloves, head sock, and helmet- all sfi approved. Yea formula D is gay. Lol :naughty:

This cage is not an SCCA, Formula D, NASA, and SCCA Rally Approved. You can't have the A-pillar bend around dash boards. I wouldn't want my A pillars there anyways. Imagine if you crash! More chances of hitting your head on those bars. Bars + Head = WATERMELON!
I suggest you guys buy the most safest pads that had been tested on the market. Don't buy those POS Swimming Pool pads for kids. Stupid.
http://www.rollbarpadding.com/front.html
The FIA Rated are huge and square but the safest one to go with. The SFI are smaller yet rounder too. THis is prolly your best bet since you guys like to "show" you guys monkey bars but still safe.

If any of you guys are interested of getting BOLT ON cage. Don't go Autopower. Thats the biggest POS cage that I have seen.
Hit up Teqnosquare in Torrance. Their bolt cage for S13 is one of the nicest fittings and work I have seen in person.

Half of those people are damn ricers.
The gap between the panels are incredibly far. You need the cage as far away from your head.
