Im about to buy a sr, trans, ecu, and wiring harness. Isnt it basically all plug and play except the harness on the alternator and trans? Im buying the sr from VegasJDM, im gonna look at color of oil on cams, shaft play in turbo, and check compression, what else should I look for? I really dont know alot about sr's yet

use the sr harness and swap the white/brown plug from the car onto the harness...google the swap process and will be a lot easier! theres a lot to check for and add on...the more you have prepared the faster you can swap...

Please before you try and start it the first time, unplug the CAS and crank the engine to prime the oil pump first, until the oil light turns off. You do NOT want to dry start an sr20 that's been sitting a while.

Basically straight bolt on. FRSport has a wiring guide as to which connectors from your KA you need to solder onto your SR harness. Also remember to check the oil pan, sometimes when they ship they get bent and the oil pump will not suck in the oil. check fuel rail too cuz they stack the engines when shipped.

Replace the oil pickup tube and strainer with the s14/s15 style.

I strongly suggest doing as much maintenance on the motor before swapping it in. It's so much easier to replace hoses, and seals etc with the motor out of the car, especially the hoses under the manifold. Read up as much as you can, see what others have gone through while swapping their motors in and learn from their mistakes if possible. A lot of people get carried away and throw upgrades while swapping it in and don't even bother with maintenance, and they wonder why their motor doesn't run right, get the swap to run as perfectly as possible before modifying it.
