alright, i am swapping a s13 sr20 in to an 89 240sx ( go figure ) and I am having a little trouble finding a good source for my first obsticle, pulling the ka24e. I have searched up and down, looked through every scanned fsm that i can get my grubby hands on and still i am confused on how to get it out.

This is my first swap ( obvoiusly ) and the only other expirence i have had on the SR is helping a friend remove the head off his sr. So i am familiar with some of it.

From what i have read I'm supposed to "Next, remove the radiator, Disconnect the power steering lines from the pump, remove the entire engine wiring harness from the car, disconnect the fuel lines, and unbolt the driveshaft. *Slimy fluids come out when u do most of these things, so be prepped. *Also remove the hood"

ok, im sure i can figure that part out, but is that all it takes to get the engine out? it seems to me like it would be a little more in depth than that, any how if any one could maybe give me a little more detailed description on how to get the engine out it would be much appriciated....
im new please be gentle

Put the tools down and step away from the vehicle :squint:
Jk!
Do you have an engine lift? You will need one,,Just disconnect everything attached to the motor/trans and use the lift to pull it out :drama:

yah pretty much what mike said. Make sure everything that is connected to the engine is disconnected, and using a hoist, pull it out.

you only have to look around for a few minutes and you'll see everything you have to take off, basically remove everything attatched to the engine/ tranny

DONT FORGET MOTOR MOUNTS!!!!!

Just want to make sure you know to unbolt those, as noone has mentioned them!!!!

And this is fairly obvious, but if you've never done it before it might not be... when he says unbolt the motor mounts, unbolt them from the top (one per side), doing it from the bottom can be a pain.

be prepared to deal with the EGR pipe coming off the downpipe. it snakes behind the steering shaft and is usually rusted to high hell onto the manifold. When taking my engine out I thought of everything except that... ended up cutting it off with a dremel cause of how bad it was rusted on. goodluck :bigok:

alright thanks for the replies, i cant wait to get the rusted old engine out, surprisingly it ran strong for 180k on the motor and compression tested at 170 all the way through, but i will be much happier with the sr under the hood, though i have never riden in a fully operational 240 with an sr swap... any how off to walmart to get some tools....

be sure all of the wire harness is disconnected. i wasnt too careful with mine and some of the plugs got ripped off. so make sure you have all the wires disconnected. good luck

haha i think i discovered what you were talking about, and yes it is rusted to high hell onto the manifold, and i do believe that no amount of grease will loosen that one, so i guess i will just cut it as soon as i can get my hands on a dremel, any how i realise that i can't really do anything else until morning because i have to release the fuel pressure and thats gunna make some noise and i'm not trying to wake up the house at 3 in the morning ---

i was looking at the bolts to the exhaust manifold and 2 questions have come to mind, 1. how the hell am i supposed to get leverage on those, and 2. even if i did have leverage they are rusted just as much as the ones on the EGR pipe, so i guess those will have to be cut as well.
