Just crashed my baby. I m impressed by the numbers put out by the sr20det swap the boys and gals at honda-acura net were talking of. Anyways i got $8500-$1000 to spend. Realistically would this be enough to cover the cost of a early 90s 240 and a sr20det swap. How much of a headache is it to maintain this JDM motor and how long are these motors good for?

Welcome to Zilvia.net
* Find a car.
-Usually on E-Bay. You can find one for less than $3000 that si in a great condition.
* Search websites for a price. There are plenty of SR20DET motor providers all over the states. Where are you located?

North CA- i would probably just do all the work/ordering/installation at a local tuner shop. As fer the car i will probably go to the San Fran.

Where in Nor Cal? Ever heard of Motorsport Dynamics? If you want to do the swap, call them at (916) 648-8000 and ask for Nate. He'll get you the info.
Beware of California smog laws if this is your daily driver...

Uhmm, not to be rude, but if you can't handle a wimpy fwd, how are you going to handle a rwd turbo car with 2wice the hp?

I've always been a closet 240SX fan. In high school I had to pretend that I loved Hondas since I went to school with riceboys (well, not that Hondas signify "riceboys", it's just that some of these morons didn't have taste when tuning them). Eventually, I started to like Honda and learned about Honda tuning, pure Honda tuning. Then I got bored and started learning about other cars aside from Honda. We welcome your new found interest with open arms.

Thats what I was thinking. If he can't controll a FWD car what's gonna happen to the poor 240sx he will buy
