Making a .GIF

How do you make an animated gif? what software do i need?

i use adobe image ready (comes with photoshop), but there are a ton of programs you can use.
go to download.com and search for gif animator

I use Gif Construction Set; it's a really simple program with not too many features, but it does what I need to do with it.
