so i installed my eibach sportlines today and they don't sit as low as my friends sprint springs which are 1.8 drop all around. The sportlines are supposed to be 2.2 all around? is there anything i could have done that might have caused this? the springs seem to be installed right! also the front sit's higher then the back, i have about a 4 finger gap in the front and a 3 finger gap in the back.

usually u have to wait about a month for it to seat all the way. so give it some time first

we installed the springs at the same time so i don't think thats the issue, eibach clames that there springs don't need to seat, so i don't think that could be the problem? anyone else have clue?

takes a while to settle... and yes... they do settle down after a month or so... if you want it lower for now and later, just add a 50lb sandbag or a subwoofer box back there... and yes, the gap is different with the rear gap disappearing while the front gap remains... the car with sportlines may still look high but look under the car and its actually purdy low...

1st gen eibach sportlines lower car like 2.2 in and new sportline only drop like 1.75 in. eibach change the specs because of some issues.

cut a few dead coils off and it'll be lower.

Also, is it on the same car? The differences in weights will affect the height of the car on springs.
Also, let them settle. They always sit a little higher after you jack them up.

Are the spring rates the same? When did Eibach start making new sportlines? Is there a way to tell the difference between new and old (difference in part numbers?)?

Thats what I did with my old sportlines
Also it sounds like your car is stripped, so if you take 100lb out of the back it will be higher, this could be your issue.

yeah my car has no options its a totally basic model 240. are u guys sure its ok to cut a coil off? ive heard thats a stupid thing to do.

uh just wait on the springs. every spring install needs to settle whether or not they say on the box that it doesn't need to. if you had put it on stock shocks for both cars, there will obviously be a difference. the lower one that's not supposed to be that low is the car with the messed up shocks, etc etc. just be happy your car is sitting good although stock shocks + springs = no good

ok coo but what do u guys think of cutting a coil off? this thread has me confused. is it a good thing bad thing

dont cut a coil off he was joking
instead of worrying about ride height enjoy your stiffer setup!

i am enjoying the stiffer set up, it's just a bit agitating when u picture something to turn out a certain way and it doesnt.

hahaha you shouldnt expect too much out of it. its only springs. thers a lot more you have to do to your car to make it stiffer and get it close to what you want it to handle like. u will always still have some sway unless you get coilovers. and youll still have some sway i think. i have shocks springs, largus sway bars and some suspension arms and it still sways alot, just not as much. gl wid your car

Well I hope u changed your shocks cuz you might need it. I had sportlines and stock shocks, shocks couldnt keep up with the spring rate so a wk or so later...PoooF...needed new shocks all around.

all springs for 240's suck for low ness... i had to chop my intrax's in half just to get the desired hight...(and got rid of most of the body roll.) handled a lot better when chopped believe it or not...
intraxs suck. they lowered 2.5" but the car still looked like a mudd bogger... dropped the car 5" after chopping.
springs are a waste of time, buy coilovers.

with a 5" drop, it wont matter what struts you have. your front struts will have 0 travel.
Even with a conservative spring drop like sportlines, 240s have dick for compression travel in the front suspension. Cutting them will only worsen the problem.
If you want to truly go low, the only way is coilovers.
5" drop, are you sure you're not on the wrong board? This is a board for 240sx's not Pathfinders man.

eibach springs, sportline and prokit, don't drop much for 240's
i recommend sprint or H&R, they drop a 240 pretty good, even then its not that low

Lowering this car more than 1.75" or so without short-stroke dampers is idiotic. If Eibach did change the Sportline so it's not so low, GOOD - the old Sportlines were too low and blew dampers constantly.
Lowering beyond that is pretty stupid anyway. You get a bad camber curve up front and a bad toe curve in the rear. Then you HAVE to run retardedly stiff springs just to keep the car from handling like crap. :cj: Coilovers/short stroke dampers won't fix that, either, only adjustable front LCAs and rear traction and toe arms will.

mmm are you? i drive my 240 lowered more than 6" on a daily basis, and so do most zilvians... coilovers at lowest settings will drop a car up to or more than 6 inchs.
I was running cut intraxs with kybs for a couple months, they didnt bottom out.. they had some travel. It drove pretty nice, i didnt bounce... when i pulled them out they wernt blown.
heres a pick... it was still pretty high compared to what its at now with Tein HE's.

That doesn't look anything close to a 5" drop like you claimed. Must've started with one of those uber-rare rally edition 240s. :mepoke:
yeah. I'll admit i run Tein S-tech springs, so my car isnt nearly as low as it could be (which is good cuz in my area driveways are usually incredibly steep and i can barely make it out of my own as is w/o scraping) but 6" is unbelieveable. If you dropped my car, 4.5" from where it is now, it'd be underground. The rocker panels would be sitting on the ground and the downpipe/exhaust would be shoved up into the underbody and destroyed, the car would not move, Perhaps you're not measuring in centimeters?

Must be, because when i lowered it with 2.5" lowering kit... i still had a 3" gap...
no worries, I did all the measuring in inches... and I actually wrote down the drops, and can compare the drops between cars because i own 2 of the exact same car year and color(ones painted now), trim... hah weird.

this one has the 2.5" lowering kit with kyb's my car was 2.5" lower than this.
this car has 205/65/15(puke).
If you guys want I can do measuring with pics! :smash:
yeah well who gives a fuck springs suck :fawkd:

Tire's can make over 1" in the same size tire. Even if you had the same brand/model of tire there can be tread depth differences due to wear. Measure from the center of the wheel(hub) to the fender. This should tell you the drop distance.
