My KA-T has been slow moving. Gathering parts over the course of months.
I started out making my own manifold with my dad, but we quickly learned that there is a reason people can charge what they do; It's friggin hard. Our semi completed manifold didnt leave room for a down pipe without removing A/C.
So my project stopped.

I bought the turbo I was going to use before i started the manifold. A KKK K26 from the mid 80's, heard nothing but good things, fast spool, T3 like Flange!!111 OMG, how could I go wrong?

So I bought a rebuild kit and gave the beast a complete overhall.

After about 3 months of nothing I gave in to the dark side: I bought an SS Autochrome manifold. Snagged it for under $200 shipped. Just got it today.

Then this happens: I compare the flange on the k26 to that of the T3 gasket and well, you see:

So here I am, about a $1000 in and now have to find a another turbo or make an adapter. Seems like there is a lot of misinformation about this flange and it's T3 like abilities. Many places you read say a k26 will bolt to a T3 manifold.

Please discuss.

all you have to do is take it to a good welder and tell him to cut off the old flange and weld on a new one...

not a real big deal, people do it all the time, why spend $$$ for one style manifold/flange combo, then fork out more $$$ when you want to upgrade your turbo?

i dunno, maybe im crazy lol
