The girlfriend and I took a trip to Ebisu, back in November, and it was an absolute blast. I recommend it to anyone looking for a hell of a driving trip.
Here's a clip from my first time on Touge:

Small world! I did G1 as well. Got booted in battle for a rookie shifting mistake (2nd to 1st instead of 3rd).
Gray R33? Pics?
It blew my expectations out of the water. I can't wait to go back!

What type of budget would you recommend to have for a trip like this.

I can tell you that for my trip, which was with 3 other friends sharing AirBNB and about 12 days was about 3k spent not including car and tires (ticket included) The car was $6800 and tires we went through about 3-4 pairs rears a day. I can't remember how much Andy @ powervehicles was charging at the time. This was over a span of about 4.5 days at the track during November Drift Matsuri. One day was raining at G1GP so we got lucky and a pair lasted us that entire day. We did make Toe adjustments too which helped conserve and get more grip. We didn't really eat anything too expensive but maybe like 2-3 fancy dinners and $300-400 of the 3K was for items that were purchased for fun.

I did 16 straight days at Ebisu. Was on track every day, and daily costs depended on how aggressive I drove. I went through about 1.5 sets of rears a day.
It was about $800 for flights, $700 for rental car, $900 for Gold Pass, $2500 per car, $700 for lodging, and probably another $5,000 in misc expenses.
Not a cheap trip initially, but it'll be a lot cheaper in April.

I have a hotel in Fukushima. But I plan on just staying overnight in the lodge to chill with other people. Go back to the hotel if I really need to get away from the noise. Ya we should all try to meet up.

Nice run BTW.
Im still trying to understand this. You are flying out to japan, buying a car and a year pass to the track and storing the car in japan and go back a few times a year to drift? This is taking an already expensive hobby to a whole new level of shit Ill never be able to afford.

Great vid man. So good to see people exploring Japan, tohoku region more importantly. Andy has a proper program going on at Ebisu, we are all very lucky he's there.

You understood it correctly.
Honestly, it's cheaper for me to book a flight, hotel, and rental car, go drift for two weeks, and then come back to the US than it is for me to drift in the US.
Seat time:Cost ratio is far better in Japan.
Think about it...all the tracks in the US focus on power and steering. Foot to the floor and steer around a track. You destroy tires because your wheel speed is far greater than your cars actual speed.
In Japan, the tracks are designed to show technique in braking and drift (entering a corner sideways - not just mashing the gas pedal mid corner). This means that your car speed and wheel speed are very close which reduces tire wear. So, not only am I only going through one pair of tires for a whole days worth of driving, I'm also learning a much better, and faster, driving technique.
IMO, 100% worth it and I've learned more in Japan than I ever did drifting in the US.
I'm actually moving there this upcoming year.

Ebisu is really great, and the guys at PV are second to none. It's amazing what they've done.

March of last year, lol. It really was dead. Unfortunately, it was the only day I was able to set aside to go.
