So I finally swapped the dohc into my originally sohc s13 hatch and mosty everything's hooked up did the connector swap for the ecu and all but I tried to start it and no spark, I get all the dash lights on and fuel pump primes just nothing happens after I try to start now I think it has to do with grounding issues.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161211/bfb25c1c562d9081fe2e82603927d19c.jpg I have no idea where this ground goes every bolt around this area ( starter area) is too big http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161211/85abc019ebb7bfc894c452fc3065db98.jpg and this black and red wire are both stripped are these supposed to be grounds for the starter or something ? I got my positive terminal bolted to starter stud and my negative bolted to tray and front of motor couldn't reach anything else help?

Here are some more pictures of all the wiring that's been connected ( I know they're all jacked up but it's just so I can get the car started and then wrap them up)http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161211/c9cdc45bc707f6112508d2516bba4526.jpg this is the connector for the alternator and I'm assuming there should be a ground bolted there so I did so http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161211/bf5c99840d2ec36bc2357841dc5feafc.jpg this is a connector going to the fuel filter http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161211/71037ed083955da836aac8e1abbafb0a.jpg + terminal to back of starter http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161211/11541e995e5d078d2587bea7a07f83b8.jpg - terminal to blockhttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161211/d9dd8dfdf68a416e3496a42168accc7c.jpg then two other connectors that I have no idea what they're for

A pic of someone's starter would help a lot tbh

Are you using a DOHC ECU? The CAS timing for the single cam is 30º retarded.

CORRECTION: The single cam CAS is 30º RETARDED from the DOHC CAS!

Yes I'm using everything dohc , will that CAS cause it to not even crank or spark?

By CAS you mean distributor cap right?

The CAS is the optical encoded built into the distributor. As long as you use the DOHC CAS and DOHC ECU, it will work fine.

Oh yea the motor came with distributor cap and coil and all that

I've been searching everywhere online on where to ground the battery terminals and legit can't find an answer.. where do the battery terminals go? I have the + grounded to the starter and the - to the front of the block should my negative be on the frame ?

u have the + grounded to the starter? u mean hooked up to the starter? the negative terminal should go to a part of bare metal on the frame. the OE location is on the intake manifold, but u can ground it wherever. just make sure the metal is clean

Yea since I couldn't find anywhere online that states where to actually ground the + battery terminal I saw pictures of other people's starters and seen the terminal bolted to the starter solenoid stud

So I have my grounds all on right and all connectors are plugged in and I'm still stuck people online said it was their clutch interlock switch which I don't think mine is bad because the car was working fine before it blew and then someone said it was the interlock relay which I don't even have one so idk what else could be the culprit :/

u said u got no spark, how did u confirm this?

Actually didn't confirm this I just figured since I turn the key and nothing happens ( no clicks, starter clicks, engine crank, or engine turning over) I figured I didn't have spark but I still have to check voltages from starter and see if the spark plugs spark when I take them out

before u continue, please do basic tests to make sure ur on the right track.

google, "how to check ka24de diagnostic ECU codes"

do that first, then post ur results here.

after that, check for spark, and check for fuel, and we will go from there. Don't just assume shit, ull put urself in a pit

edit: ur wording misled me, ur shit isnt even cranking? then check starter voltage, and it would be worthwhile to look at the interlock shit, maybe bypass it for testing purposes. Lots of info online on how to do that.

I have all the connectors and plugs connected that I need to get the car started, I have power and my fuel pump is working, all my dash lights turn on the only issue is when I try to crank it literally nothing happens no clicks no nothing I still have to check the starter voltage but let's just say I do have voltage to the starter and it's still not starting what else could be the problem ?

Also, there are two pictures in the beginning of this post showing a ground that isn't hooked up and a black and red wire that was cut would this have anything to do with the starter not clicking ?

i just told u, clutch interlock. If u claim all ur shit is hooked up and grounded, and ur starter is good then that's the only thing left to prevent the starter from turning.

Started wrenching on it tonight and I got it started, I ended up having the interlock switch fuse thing ( blue plug) connected that, the car started to turn over, got new plugs and cap and rotor ended up getting no spark last step was to switch out the sohc ignition coil with a dual cam one ( no one stated that in all the write ups) and she started right up [emoji1360][emoji1360]
