Need Help with a CA Fixit Ticket

K...I need some info from people whos well-versed on the california vehicular code book. I got a fix-it ticket for tints and modified exhaust but im in the military and falls under the Military Non-resident clause since i dont own a home in cali, work in cali *other than the base*, dont pay state tax nor do I vote in cali. Could I fight it with *My cars not registered nor am I california licensed*??? Its registered in FL and FL is pretty much do wut u want jes make sure its safe *well atleast in my county* :bs:

Wrote me up for exhaust and tint...27151 cvc and 26708 (a)(2) I might fight it tru written declaration cuz i dont feel like driving all the way to freakin RICHMOND.

On a side note, is having the passenger and driver sides front windows illegal to have a tint on (its the darker purple; I know I know, but I buy cars off girls and its what came with it :D ) ? My car has it on all windows and except the windsheild, will I get a ticket?

i read on the chp book that your front windows can be tinted, but has to have 70% vision... and you cant tint your windshield...thats just retarted.

You might want to give DMV a call & ask them how to proceed. Also, give the court a call & let them know you are in the military - they might give you some info on how to get the citation voided.

Front side windows cannot be tinted.

Everything else except the front can be tinted with 70% minnimum visibility IIRC.

Which means most people have illegal tints (duh)

Look on DMV website, or roll yer windows down when you see cops.

Yah i already read up on that...no where does it say in there that im MANDATED to comply with california vehicular laws since im in cali. So back to the whole am i supposed to or not??? Imma brush up on FL laws so i can use that as "im legal in my home of residence*

I don't think it will work because by entering cali, you have to then go by cali rules. I think you are owned.

Exhaust tickets are not Fix-it, they're non-correctable. Meaning that if your exhaust violates the 95.0dB limit, even if you go back to stock you still pay the fee which is about $110. The also keep it on record that you violated so that when you do it again, it will cost you more. Next time is about $156... but it varies depending on your area. This was just me.

If your exhaust violates you have no argument. Don't bother, pay and go. I've been fighting with these tickets for 6 months... it's not worth it unless you can get your dB level down before having it checked out by CHP.

Do not do this! This is currently something the police are watching for and is a really nasty fine. You have 10 days from the day you begin residing in CA to register the car in the state.

Yes. Check DMV/CHP website. In SOcal they cite you for that.

I forgot to mention that frotn windshield cannot be tinted,and yes if your car is out of state and you reside/work in this state you must re-register the car in 10 days.

Might be different for Ray though since he's in the military... maybe ask someone on the base foo? :P

ok im in the military and i have fought these tickets and won, you do not have to register your car in cali, but you have to comply with your state laws when it comes to vechicle mods, like my cars registered in kansas, so i cant recive a ticket for a smog violation, ie too much of the smelly stuff,im in cali alos, since kansas has way more leanient laws on smog. same things apply to everything else, but to my knowlage theres like only 2 states that allow a very light tint some thinglike 90% on the front windows.easiest thing to do is go talk to you post jag guys they probly will know for sure.

LoL...well i brushed up on my FL statutes. Well its illegal too in FL *atleast according to this one site* but i looked up what the law says word for word...my interpretation is that its illegal to have MIRROR tints. For the Exhaust...it just says excessive...well who would/could define excessive? Theres no Db levels for my county. Then it goes on bout the usual no cut outs, must have muffler and resonator. Imma fight it fo sho cuz i think ive paid cali enough tickets for this year!!! 2 speeding tix and counting!!!
