Has anyone dealt with removing the TPS on the KA24DE? After removing the two screws holding it in, what do you do? There's that metal tube coming out of the thermostat in the way of removing the TPS.
Any suggestions?

Remove the throttlebody if you can't pull the TPS straight off.

i took off the thermostat and that tube when i swaped mine with a NEW one. fixed the car for a week, problem came back. i than disconnected the TPS, and have been driving around like that ever since. its useless on my car.

Thanks for the replies.
Maybe I should try driving with it unplugged, cuz my puny hex keys can't get the throttle body off...
You didn't run into air pockets / overheating issues from taking off the thermostat?

Running without the TPS connected causes a lean issue, and sluggish response from idle.
Also will kill the top end...the ECU looks for Load (MAF Voltage and TPS voltage are used to determine load) versus RPM to determine timing advance...so with no TPS input, you will get no timing advance. It feels fine until about ~4000, then it falls flat.
Trust me...I was battling a bad TPS issue for months, until I found out the ground in the connector was bad...fixed that, and it's a whole new car. But while I was diagnosing (and being lazy), it was running without the TPS connected and ran poorly. No power, and sluggish response.
As for your thermostat qeustion...I think he meant removed the coolant lines to the TB...not the thermostat. It was badly worded...

Mine seemed fine until I fixed it and noticed the huge difference...
But if it works for you, great!

I replaced it today. Oooohohohoho man it feels good. A lot smoother than before. No more pulsing below 3000 rpm. But wut a bitch. I hate disconnecting all those tubes and then having to stuff them back into the right places. Ah well. Car runs well now. :) Thanks for everyone's advice.
