Built my first fuel cell this coming weekend and just wanted some constructive advice or hindsight. I will have a firewall covering up my tank incase of a fire, but take a look. There will be four more metal bars attached to each corner of the cage so it can mount to the chassis better. The steel bar is about 1.25x1.25 about 1/8th thick. The fuel cell is going in my 73 Datsun 510. I plan for a couple track days, I've been reading a couple of rule books.
I will have two flat bars running across the fuel cell to keep it mounted in incase of a rollover. The fit is very tight which brings me up to the question, do I need any type of rubber padding between the aluminum and steel bars?

I will also be adding a surge tank after everything is all said and done.
