So I know there are virtually unlimited posts on LS swaps as well as the older style LT1 swap. (Chevy has to make things confusing by not renaming the new motor.) I currently have an S14 and I just found a killer deal that is very time sensitive for an LT1 6.2 out of a 2015 Stingray for $4k. Motor is in good condition and very low mileage. Question being, I know the old LT1's were frowned upon because they were quite a bit heavier than the LS. Is there any pros or cons with the new LT1? Will install be as "simple" as an LS swap? Before I get crucified, I've searched numerous forums. It's too new of a motor to find much. HEEELP! and thank you!

Are you getting the ECU and Harness too? That's important to help answer your question. Becuase otherwise, what ECU are you going to run. $$$

Not sure, I know the motor goes for like $10k plus. I need to find that out but I'm sure it still offsets the price. Does anyone know if it mounts differently or if it's heavier? Any thing I need to be concerned of.

Thanks for the reply btw!

Unless i am mistaken the new 6.2 LT1 is an aluminum block with aluminum/metalloid pistons. Keep in mind the motor comes in the VVT configuration which most of us end up removing. Weight for an LS1 for example is low 400 lbs. and from what I read the motor you are referring to is approx. 460 lbs. or so. it shouldnt be a massive weight difference between the LS aluminum blocks and LT1 aluminum blocks.

As for the the wiring/ecu I believe MegaSquirt offers a solution but I am not too well versed on those units but Im sure someone can chime in.

Ya from my research the newer ECU may be a problem. One of my major concerns is I was going to buy a swap kit from Sikky. Doesn't look like they do anything with the LT1. I don't want to have to make custom mounts and figure out the oil pan situation..

from my understanding and I could by mistaken, but James (owner of Sikky) has figured out all of these issues and concerns already. Again, I am trying to remember the conversation him and I had about a month and half ago.

I am almost positive he has it all taken care of regarding the mounts for this car for s chassis. Also he has wiring all figured out with adapting the wiring specialties harness into the car. There are a few things you need to change on the motor to allow for the harness to work properly but he has already done all of that. I would call up and confirm with him for a direct answer. Him and his team have wonderful knowledge and are great to work with. I would just double check everything. When him and I were talking we were discussing using the new Camaro SS motor in a swap I am working on and it was all set and good, so I assume the vette motor will be no problem. He has also figured it all out for the new LS3 options too.

good luck, hope it all works out. If not, let me get that motor haha
