alright say you ran without an intake for awhile (by mistake of course) and wanted to find out if your cylinders were scratched or damaged, or say you bought a motor and its covered in all kinds of dust and grime (like most are at some point) and you want to make sure the cylinders are fine. what is a definite way to tell if your cylinders are scratched. i would think a compression and leak down test would show major scratches, but with turbo engines even minor ones can affect things. please help. thanks guys.

Buy or rent a bore scope. Shove it down the spark plug holes and take a look.

don't worry, a complete leak down and compression test will be fine.
